sometime back we had a brand new Mehran FF CNG, we got its CNG kit tuned several times but it was a pain to start while cold, and when i had to turn it from petrol to cng or cng to petrol it used to cause some serious pain, specially while on the road, i remember pushing it to the side of the road :S

VTi 1999, runs really good on CNG. It depends upon the mechanic who gets his hands on it. The day before Yesterday went to 145kph, 5th gear, 3.5 k RPM with slightly wobbly tires, camber out (have to get the main rear bushes changed and then alignment/balancing done) and a lots of air drag cz of weather.Goes up to 7200 rpms while vtec perfectly kicking in. All this to explain the running is really good on CNG. And mileage is not a problem too.
And yes, generally I don't go over 100kph, this was the very first time touched the above mentioned figure on this car so it also helps to keep your engine is good shape.

WHen you Run a car on CNG its tappets get jammed, Some cars tappets can be easily loosed through screws and nut but others need to get their head open. Which is costly as well as not good for a car just done around 50-60k kms.

Every car can Run on CNG but the problem is which car will be requiring less and cheap maintainance..

i think tappets get jammed when you doesn't change the engine oil on time....

whats about new city 2010 in cng? one mechanic told me it harms some parts of engine. previously I drove 100K km cng mehran and no problem 35000 km liana and no problem.

Engineers say that CNG is actually better for the engine. It is just a little compression ratio difference that worries out mates here in Pakistan. Nothing to worry about, if set up properly, any engine would do well on it.
How can clean fuel harm engine parts? If its about some impurities (if at all), then gasoline in our country has more than the natural gas. Its just the feel of sudden acceleration that keeps people saying that gasoline is better. We here love to rev our 1.3-1.6 litre 80-130 hp monsters and advocate things like these.

carby cars realy sucks when it comes to conversion from Cng to petrol or pertrol to cng where as in EFI cars it just a click of a button.

Honda city 03-09 runs great on cng.... im sure same goes for the new city.

You can go 50,000 kms - 60,000 kms on your Vario before you need to change its CVT, no matter you install whatever kind of advancers or lambda motors, Vario is a failure on CNG.
For extra-smooth gear-shifting you need to pay, run it on petrol and it is the most smoothest car to drive !

Sir , Vario is not a complete failure on cng... it all depends on the way u maintain ur car.ppl here dont give a *hit about changing transmission oils and then they cry when the tranny fails.u NEED to change the CVT oil at 30,000kms as u start getting minor jerks after 30k kms even on a petrol driven car ( happened to @ARCHON's city steermatic on petrol) even though honda guys say change the oil at 40,000kms, but it has been noticed that changing oil at 30,000kms wud save u from any sort of risk.... its simple, treat ur car nicely, and it wudnt bug u, even on cng....

A friend has a honda city idsi vario 2005 model with 129,000kms on it, the last 60,000kms were done on 205/45/r17, but he keeps the engine at its best... the result, the car is going without a problem on CNG...

@autophile & c123pk... i respect your opinion but as i said "normally carburetor cars run hassle-free without any significant problems on cng as compared to efi ones.." i didnt said that efi car cannot run better on cng, depends a lot on the capabilities of cng technician as well. a good experience of both of you cannot represent the majority similarly as c123pk pointed out the switching & cold start problems in carby cars, i am using cng since 5 years in my carby cultus now and haven't faced these troubles at all!

I have to disagree with you.

If you look at it from the design perspective, Logically, EFi is better equipped to handle CNG. A Carburetted car is not capable of accurately advancing the timing of the engine according to load conditions. Moreover, Carburetted cars cannot have exhaust analyzers to assist in the performance of the engine (Lambda).

I ran my 1985 G11 Charade on CNG for 7 years and took it to Maalam Jabba on CNG and back (apart from other long routes I traveled) and had extensive experience with Carburetted CNG. I can assure you that running an EFi engine is far easier, hassle free, more efficient and provides better performance.

i have H City 2005 CVT IDSI AT 44k done on petrol. CNG with lamda installes. RPM falls when AC is on & "DRIVE". Please advice the daignose.
