4kgs will be left in cng cylinder since it is fixed. if its lpg, you can place it upside down to use all of it... i can use my home 8kg cylinder fill 5-6kg every week and am good to go

Remaining 4Kg doesn't cost extra Rs 15 per KG. Actually that 4kg (for my 15Kg cylinder) remains in cylinder. so if I get LPG refilled in same cylinder from LPG shop (using pump) I will need 11Kg of gas. If you buy LPG using pump you have to pay Rs.15/per Kg extra. If you get a cylinder replacement for empty cylinder, the cost becomes 106/ Kg.
Rs.15 / Kg is LPG shop service charges in other words.

May be 2kg remains in small cylinder(11Kg version) or you have to put cylinder in trunk in a way that valve of cylinder goes down so that more LPG gets to valve.

I got the 11 Kg pumped in Lahore @ 105/Kg, while company rate is Rs.90/Kg there.

This is what i am doing right now but CNG cylinder un-coupled. LPG valve and LPG pipe cant bear 200Bar pressure, those r designed for 5bar. I have 15Kg domestic LPG cylinder.... currently I am just testing LPG... So far so good. If I get same mileage on my next trip, I might opt to get LPG pumped in my CNG cylinder...

that some expert can clarify
home cylinder goes full empty without inverting it, maybe that has something to do with stove on top of it, where as car cant pull from bottom of cylinder, u cant even invert in car, one quick turn n cylinder will b jumping from one corner to other corner lol

Probably you have mised some of my posts.
I have already mentioned in stats that I traveled on motorway, using AC.

Let me elaborate Everything for you.

1. I was curious enough to try this LPG stuff.
2. I asked mechanics, got details from only two cooperative mechanics.

Yes until you put cylinder upside down OR YOU AT-LEAST PUT CYLINDER IN TRUNK DIAGONALLY SO THAT YOU COULD GET MORE GAS OUT OF IT DUE TO GRAVITY EFFECT.

Yes they charge Rs. 15 extra if they pump gas in cylinder. doesn't matter target cylinder is LPG or CNG or else.
Company rate in Islamabad is 1600 Rupees for 15Kg cylinder, means 106 Rupees per KG. You can get this rate if you exchange old empty cylinder with sealed(company filled) one. In this case LPG shops doesn't have to use pump....hopefully you get the idea. you get pumped gas @ 120 Rupees in Islamabad/Rawalpindi.
my stats: cost of Gas 106/Kg x 11Kg = 1166/-
what I mention in my post is 15Kg cylinder @ 106Rs./Kg in Islamabad.
Total gas consumed for 280Km ride = 11Kg. so cost of Gas becomes 106/Kg x 11Kg = 1166/-....Islamabad Rate.

I got 11Kg pumped in Lahore @ 105Rs./Kg.... If I had totally empty cylinder and I find the same LPG brand agency in Lahore, I could get cylinder replaced @ 90 Rs. per KG. hopefully you get the idea.... If you have POL gas cylinder then you can get it replaced only from POL gas agency...

I have not made any switch... What I have done is "unhook CNG cylinder from CNG pipe and put that CNG pipe to LPG cylinder". so there is no way to get CNG in piping for the time being.

Yes it can be accomplished but there are safety issues. One of the mechanic has suggested me.... we have to make sure that all piping and valves used in such a system are specifically designed for CNG as CNG system works @ 250 BAR pressure while LPG @ 5 BAR only. We dont want CNG pressure burst our LPG piping/valve or LPG cylinder. Using LPG in CNG system is quite safe but it is not true vice versa, You simply cant use LPG Piping/Valves/cylinder for CNG.
The simplest approach is to get LPG pumped in CNG cylinder. if you get 40Kg pumped, you can have a round trip Islamabad-Lahore-Islamabad. But atleast 5Kg will remain in CNG cylinder. In simple, get 40Kg pumped and consider it 35Kg for first time, in subsequient refills you will get pumped only 35Kg. (5 Kg minimum balance as banks keep Rs. 10000 minimum balance to have Account...lol)
If you choose to get CNG pumped later on, the LPG guy was saying that you can safely get CNG while you have 5kg LPG in cylinder as it(5Kg of LPG) will remain there in liquid form until it get the way to get out of cylinder....

I will be coming back from Lahore hopefully next monday. I will update my new stats...

E.g if a car gives 12km/l on petrol. Then on lpg it will give 9.6km/l (80%)

Now price of petrol is 108/l and lpg is 87.5/l

To make any savings on lpg, either price has to be lesser then 85/l or it must give more mileage.

Can someone confirm what is the current price in summers?

I got in my dad's car for Rs 100 per KG. 1 kg = 1.96 L so it is something around 51-52 Rs/L

waise if u wanna compare the cost with petrol
then 108rs/9km= 12rs/km
lpg 106kg/2 = 53rs per litre n if it gives 85% average then = 7.65km per litre
now 53rs/7.65km= 6.92rs/km
still saving of 5rs/km
though mostly people say lpg gives almost same average as that of petrol as people have mentioned full tank average of petrol n lpg both, they were almost same

lpg will be good only in summers but thats also some 3-4 months

In winters the saving will be minimum or no saving. LPG was for Rs. 160 per KG in winters in Lahore.

yes if its below 120, then its good for us. The only thing left to discuss is safety now

As per studies it is safer than CNG. Specially in those CNG cylinders as the filling pressure is around 200-250 bars in CNG and LPG uses only max 5-6 bars.

@chaudhary9, how are you converting kg to liter in your calculations?
@Azhar_isb, that is a new thing for me which you have mentioned. I have been using LPG in my village home for cooking and using LPG cylinders and I have never faced this issue. The cylinder empties fully and then I get it refilled.

The calculation is usually 1.89-2.0L=1 KG of LPG.
You need the density, which itself can vary depending on conditions.

Some examples; butane is approximately 0.505 kg/L and propane is about 0.575 kg/L.
Now, we learned this in school, if I can remember correctly, in winters, they mix 40% Butane and 60% Propane ( could be the other way round ). Not sure if they know how to do the mix in Pakistan, hence mechanics will tell you that LPG freezes in the winter, again, because of wrong calculations when mixing it.

Yeah, why not? All I had to do was to adjust the screw on the Gas Kit and it works perfectly.

Specific Gravity of LPG is 0.51 so the density would be 510 kg/cu.m as compared to that 1000 kg/cu.m of water.

so basically its 120rs per kg, n it'll be 106 only if u swap your cylinder with their pre filled cylinder, normally no one would do that, every1 just gets it filled in their own cylinder which will be 120rs/kg, one major turn off

rest 4kg always staying in cylinder means 480rs lpg wont be utilised n will go towards cost of system

n then comes the figure, i thought its local average, so local will be less n then for civic auto it'll come more down, around 14-16kg i guess n that would mean 120rs per kg/16km per kg = 7.5rs/km :-#
all attractiveness down the drain, @hellsguardian try it now in light of these new discoveries n see if u get any better average otherwise i cant think of using it now
u can however use that remaining 4kg, just invert the cylinder if small like mine n keep something next to it

now only if one can connect the pipe from lpg cylinder to cng n back to lpg themself then it can be used as backup in place of petrol but cant shift totally to lpg

Running civic 95 on lpg getting 17 km per kg now its a lot better than whar carby gives on petrol on motorway at speed to 100 i got unbelievable 22km /kg

We haven't tested LPG on new cars yet. Plus, there are many factors contributing to fuel efficiency. Everyone knows that old civic auto is a fuel guzzler.

here's the average a friend got in his 3.0L Pajero 1994 in local (quoting from another thread)

yup its bad
cng average is around 650/119 = 5.5rs/km local drive
petrol would be 110/9= 12.2rs/km but i think mostly it'll be 8kmpl so 110/8= 13.75rs
lpg still comes in middle of both but not as good as cng

I changed my car around 1.25 years ago, I had in mind if I get good average then its ok, else i'll use LPG. But I got good average. My dad's ride has cng kit, I insisted him to try LPG, he did. Now he doesn't want to be in lines again for cng, so LPG is in use. No to cng from my home
