I moved to Pak a year ago and all the oil types and filter brands were different here.
Have a 2015 Suzuki every turbo. I figured the locals would know what oil spec it took, and they poured 10w40 in it with a cheap ass filter. Every time I would start it up in the morning, it would tick for 5-10 seconds.
After research and downloading the owners manual, I found out only 5w30 is recommended with an sn rating.
So, I drained the oil out and replaced it with total quartz 5w30 and a better quality filter. Ever since doing this, no more ticking on cold start.
I also ensure to get good quality air filters, clean them with compressed air every 2-3 weeks and replace every other oil change.
Basically, we can do all the research we want. From my experience:
1) Follow your owners manual for oil grade and spec. No one knows your engine better than the people who designed it.
2) get a good quality brand oil with the required rating, good quality oil and air filters. Avoid fakes.
3) due to the amount of dust, I follow the 'severe condition' service interval in the manual.
Do these things, and your car will serve you well.
There's a quote I have followed to a tee in my life:
"if you take care of the car, the car will take care of you"
