it's 962 ml in bottle, it' upto you if you want to use it in long run then you can buy 2 for 1 litre otherwise no issues with 962 ml

Older cultus did not have ohv. Pressurized lubrication system is different from the splash system used by most generators and motorcycles.

Thanks for the detailed reply. I've found that there are a lot of lube shop in lahore. Are all these just different branches or different business? I see one as "the lube shop"but the rest are just "lube shop".

Underrated and economically priced, have been using this in a vehicle for long time, improves shifting, some times though its not available so stock up. Its suitable for almost all fwd manual transmissions requiring 80w-90 gl4.

I have a toyota corolla 1.6 SR 2011 bought in 2018 millage was 124,000 KMS since i started driving.
Current millage is 275,000 i have only once changed timing chain and adjuster due to timing chain noise and after that the vehicle was working perfectly fine with oil grade 10W-40,
its been 20,000 KMS that i have changed the oil grade due to slight engine oil consumption to 20W-50.
after recent change of engine oil a tappet noise started in my car engine i showed some mechanic but they said that we may need to replace the Cylinder Head Assy.

Tappet noise can be observed continuesly when start engine and on high RPM the sound disappears but on low RPM and Idling start again regardless of engine temperature cold or hot the noise continues.

Some one if had faced the same issue please guide me as well for further diagnosing and repair.

You poured in 20w50 in an engine designed for 0w20/5w30 oil viscosity, and complain of noise when its oil starved, who in the right sense advised that. The noise you are mentioning can be related to vvti cam pulley which would have gone dead due to thick oil. In any case, valve adjustment can be done by replacing buckets (called as dabbu in desi mechinc lingo) and does not require replacement of cylinder head.

As @Mun33b said, you poured the wrong oil grade as a band aid for supposed oil consumption. You should have done a compression test at that time, checked for leaking seals, bad pcv, etc. An engine does not one day start consuming oil, it's a gradual failure.

Also, if it was a light oil consumption because of worn rings, that is completely normal for an engine of said mileage and did not warrant the usage of a thicker grade oil.

Get your vvti cam gear and valves checked, The first failure is bad valve lifters or buckets (dabbu), can easily be done on the same head setup. you will probably need a set of new valves too, and a head gasket. Please only buy new OEM parts, or as close to OEM as possible.

Is your engine sludged up? Since oil pressure is low at idle maybe lifters are not getting enough oil to maintain the lash. 1zr has hydraulic lifters. You might also have worn bearings so oil pressure is low all around. Was there absolutely no noise before 20w50?

I dont think 1zr has buckets. Countless 1zr run on 20w50 almost all 1zr 2zr in pak come factory fill with 20w50. Not saying 20w50 is optimum nor would i recommend it to anybody but in op case i dont think 20w50 would kill the engine. Even outside of pak corollas come with 20w50 as factory fill in many countries ksa i know personally. People are running w60 in corollas in australia and they are running fine

Why did you move to 20w50 ... Reason since manufacturer doesn't recommend

Maybe because his engine bearing were worn not maintaining adequate pressure at idle or lifter bleed or minor leaks. 20w50 is one of the viscosities suggested in owners manual of corolla, not only in pak but other countries as well though there are more suitable viscosities other than 20w50

Yes correct, it has lifter type valvetrain. In that case, the lifter piston should be replaced with correct height. Regarding usage of 20w50, it kills VVTi pulleys on cold start, I have personally replaced it with new oem part on 1zz-fe. Insufficient oil pressure due to thick viscosity causes the actuator pintle to not diaengage properly, damaging the locking slot. Using it in any country doesnt warrant it to become good for the engine. As for Indus motors pouring in 20w50 in new engines, thats correct, and they have ruined many engines that way too.

Using thicker grade oil for worn out bearings, if anything, causes even more damage on cold crank.

1zz has different valvetrain than 1zr, 20w50 has more pressure, maybe you meant it has less flow or smthng bcz pressure increases with viscosity. Havent seen any uoas or evidence where a corolla engine lasted 300k before requiring major repair with 0w20 vs lasting much less on 20w50, not advocating 0w20 or 20w50 but have seen many people around the world (without freezing temps) use 20w50 for years and no problems, and toyota specs 20w50 for corolla outside pakistan as well so 20w50 probably is not an indus thing.
