Some modern diesel engines feel superb with 5w-40.
(Xulfiqar says 5w-40 is boss oil for diesel engines.)

I have a honda vezel 2014, and its mileage is 120k+ KM my mechanic has replaced my from Honda 0w20 to Honda 5w30. What are your thoughts?

Also, I'm a bit skeptical about Honda oil that is available at shops, like I have seen 4 different packaging of the same Honda oil on daraz and Im really not sure which one is genuine. Someone suggested that I should use some other brand with out-lets, like Shell or zic which may reduce the chances of picking a fake product. What do people do in Pakistan.

Thicker oil is only used when the engine starts burning oil on a lighter grade oil. If the car is serviced regularly then 0w20 is best.

you can never get more than half the oil from a transmission that uses a torque converter with no drain plug. The bottom bit of the convertor traps the oil inside it when the engine shuts off. - e.g. the refill from fresh build of a Honda civic Autobox is about 8 litres, while a change is always less than 3 - the rest is trapped inside. You dont need to remove the sump in your trans - remove the strainer (which is the filter) let oil drip, fill from hole till half liter more comes out, install…

1) If we don't remove the sump, how can we remove the strainer/filter???

2) Doesn't the filter and sump need to be cleaned???

3) What is the role of calibration softwares and temperature in this procedure??? Does those help in the correct level???

ATF or CVTF has good life upto 40-60K Km

If you know that Vehicle has done 50+K km, then its time to change it.

If you bought the 2nd hand vehicle and previous owner doesn’t even know when did he change its ATF/CVTF, then check the color & smell of the fluid. If the color is red and there is no burnt smell, then keep it driving and check the same thing again when next time you go for motor oil change. Mean after 4-5K km.

For better observation, use white paper towel or tissue to see the dip stick of ATF/CVTF.

In PK, there is lot of 2 numberi in engine oils. Not all the shops are selling original products.

You have to find the company’s authorized dealers and buy from them. You can find this information from the website of different blending companies.

If you are from Lahore, the main dealers are sitting in Badami bagh. You can visit them to buy the original products.

Apart from those dealers, there are hundreds of other shops who sells the original products too. Like Filter House, Makki Oil Store, etc. You have to find them.

For vesel if OEM recommends to use 0w-20, then keep using it till your reading touch 500K km.

There is no logic to shift to higher viscose oil unless there are some serious technical issues.

In most of the toyota’s vehicles there are ATF Cooler lines mostly connected with lower part of Radiator. I believe similarly your vehicle will have it too.

Please check this first and confirm that your vehicle has ATF Cooler lines attached with Radiator. Normally these are two rubber pipes. One pipe brings the fluid to Radiator to cool down and other pipe sends the fluid back to the sump after cooling.

In case your answer is YES I saw there are two small pipes attached with Radiator, then you are lucky because there is very simple method which almost replaces 90-95% of ATF with fresh one.

CVT was introduced with 1KR somewhere in 2006 before that it was with ATF.
even passo 2008 model came with ATF and its gear lever was attached beneath its steering wheel. Many people confused it with cvt but actually it was 4-speed forward gear. They introduced CVT in Passo with 1KR from 2009 onwards.

Just check if its has cooler lines attached with its Radiator. If yes, then its super easy to change the whole CVTF without opening the chamber.

Assalam o Alaikum, brothers! I hope you all are doing great. I have a 1997 Corolla EE111 with a 4E-FE engine that has done over 250,000 km. Recently, I had it completely overhauled, and the mechanic ustad used 20w50 (BEES PACHAAS) grade oil as the first oil. According to its original specifications, 5w30 is recommended, and the Shell Pakistan oil guide also recommends the same. The problem is that every local mechanic and oil trader recommends 20w50 for such an old engine, whereas the actual recommendation says otherwise. My question is, considering the weather in Karachi, and the current condition, life, and mileage of the engine, can I switch to 5w30 at the next oil change? Additionally, which mid-range oil brand is the best (For reference, Liqui Moly and other imported ones are quite expensive)?

Caltex havoline 5w30 is a good option. You can switch to 5w30 with no issues.

They are totally Ignorants. they don't know how motor oil works and what are its working dynamics.

a big yes. You can use 5w-30

There is an economical option also available which is Havoline 10w-30. Very economical and very much commonly available oil. I am using in my both vehicles where 5w-30 in actually recommended.

It’s the best and most economical option

Earlier there were few oils available in market which was best for such engines. But sadly its not available anymore. One was Kixx’s G1/G2 or something similar which was SG/SH grade. And other was Zic-M 15w-40 which now they call x3 or something. It was also good.

Nevertheless the strong & powerful Caltex Delo Gold 15w-40 can also be used since its SL grade too
