assalam u alaikum to all senior members, i need your expert opinion about my civic which got heat up and now it has all work done like head gasket, coils, plugs, adjuster, water body, transmission oil, o2 sensor changed. so now which engine oil should be use now? ustad g said 20w/50 dal dia ha 500 k.m k baad change karna but i was using 10w/40 and my fuel avg was quit good now i am confuse about 20w/50 plz guide me

Use 10w40. Thicker oil is only used if engine is reducing oil.

However, I'm now confused about which engine oil I should use.

• Would 5W-30 be okay, or should I continue with 10W-40?
• Should I consider changing the brand?
• Is a Japanese brand okay?

I don't want to change the engine's sound or affect the fuel efficiency. Currently, I'm getting an average of 14-15 km/l on long routes

Any idea what manual says to use motor oil?
I guess OEM says to use 5w-30 in it. Can you double check this?

Since you are using 10w-40, satisfied with fuel average and engine noise, then better keep using it.
ZIC is very good brand indeed.
My next door neighbor is high official at ZIC. I have couple of meetings with him and they are doing very well here. Their oils are good.

I have a 2017 Suzuki Wagon R VXR with 33,121 km on the odometer. I’m currently using Castrol Magnatec 5W-30 and getting a fuel average of 11-12 km/L with the AC on in the city. Since it's time for an oil change, can anyone recommend a suitable oil to improve fuel efficiency? and I drive around 400-450 km per month

I think the lowest oil viscosity for the K10B engine that comes in the car is 0w20, correct me if i'm wrong.

I have recently bought Toyota Altis 1.8 SR cruisetonic 2010. Car milage is 136000 and previous owner is using Havoline 10w40. Should i go with same grade and same brand
If i want to change the brand with same grade which brand is best

Switch to havoline 10w40 and observe if it's reducing oil or not. If not then switch to 5w30 on next oil change and observe. 5w30 is recommended for this engine.

20w50 is a killer for almost any modern engine built after 2005…

Switch to 5w30. Nothing thicker.

If the damage is already done you might notice slight oil reduction after about 2000km interval.

Ideally you’d use 0w20 as this is the right grade for this engine all over the world but 5w30 is also fine and easier to source.

Toyota recommends 5w-30 or 10w-30
you can shift back to these oil grades anytime.

I have cultus EFI 2011.
I had no idea what engine oil grade previous owner was using so I mistakenly poured 4 litre 10w-30 engine oil after which car started to produce gray and bluish smoke during cold start. I had reduced the oil level to 3.5 litres after noticing the mistake.
I drove around 1500 km and there was no oil or coolant level reduction.

Had to go for valve seals replacement due to smoke issue. Changed head gasket along with head facing. Mechanic suggested to use 20w-50 after valve seals replacement. There is no smoke now but I am not satisfied with 20w-50 as milage has dropped.
I am now planning to use 10w-30 or 10w-40.
Please advise which oil grade i should use after valve seals replacement as I don't want to use 20w-50.

Use 10w40 and observe. I would say 10w40 is fine for your car. If the engine was better maintained by the previous owner i would go 5w30 on the next oil change.

stick with semi synthetic 10w-40 from a reputable brand. it should serve you well.

Recently my car (reborn) got heat up due to coolant leak which was due to a faulty radiator cap on motorway. Fortunately I stopped when the AC stopped working otherwise my engine would seized. Almost 3/4 of engine oil was also burnt. After that incident I poured kixx g1 10w40 because that was only available on m2 chakri. After that oil change the rest of the trip went well with getting good average of 15km/l. But the issue is I get the burning smell of engine oil when I put load on the engine on a whim. I know the smell because I smell the same thing when they open the engine oil cap during the incident. I think my head gasket is done for. Now my car is doing good when I take it easy with no rapid acceleration or anything and getting good average with 10w40 which I was not getting back with kixx g1 5w30 or maybe because I was always driving with heavy foot instead of light foot as I'm doing now with the fear of harming the engine otherwise. The reason why I'm still driving with 10w40 instead of 5w30 is because 5w30 was giving a lot of burning smell even at 3k rpm and milage was also not good even with light foot.
My usual mechanic said to go with the 10w40 now that the damage has done to the engine.
Now the main issue is that 10w40 is not a very good oil for this car as I have feel how heavy the oil is for the engine whenever I need the sudden power at low rpm or high rpm. The car also feel heavy no matter which terrain I drive in. But the average has become good from 13km/l to 14-15km/l.
So now I'm in a deliema whether I should change back or keep using it. The other option I'm thinking of is using kixx pao 5w-40 since my car engine has tasted 10w40 for quite some time now, hoping that it'll bring it back to its original state of power while also not causing the issue of burning or leaking.
Also I have observed after every small or large trip but my engine oil isn't reducing so now I'm confused. I want to enjoy the occasional power and pick of the engine but don't want to cause further DMG and don't want to lose the milage.
So I'll appreciate your kind responses.
Also I replaced the engine with a fresh one when I bought the car at 130k km. That's why I was using 5w30 as the previous owner was using 20w50 which had damaged the engine.
