Also, what are your thoughts on kixx pao 5w40?
Is it a good alternative if one likes liqui moly or Mobil 1? Because both of these brands are quite expensive now compare to anything else.

Dear first get your head gas kit changed. Than check for any leakages. Once all fluids are fine and car is working appropriately you can continue with 10w-40 for another cycle and than may be switch to 5w-30 for observation. Ideally car should give better milage and pick on 5w-30.

also another way to check for engine with an issue is to look at your plugs for any oil residue. if there is none and they are working properly its a good sign.

also check your exhaust for black residue and smoke. if there is none of it than your engine is good and ok.

I have bought toyota corolla altis 1.8 with milage of 135k.
Previous owner was using 10w-40 of havoline brand.
Now i want to shift to liquimoly 10w-40
My concern is that will there be chance of any issue such as smoke or oil burning

The recommended engine oil is 5w-30 or 10w-30
10w-30 doesn’t has much variety but 5w-30 comes in many categories like fully synthetic, partially synthetic, etc. and also different companies recommend different additives like PAO, MoS2, etc. etc. some says they blend it in UNO some say they blend it at moon etc etc which I believe is just marketing tactics and brings lots of confusions for consumers to choose.
Plz choose among 5w-30 or 10w-30 and keep using.

5w30 or 0w20 are the ideal oils for this.

Simple shell helix is not fully synthetic do not buy it. Only buy fully synthetic oils. HX7 PLUS is fully synthetic.

Or havoline .

Also, the gear oil, brake fluid and coolant have never been changed before. I am aware those things are wayyyy overdue. Should I do a full flush of the brake system and coolant? Or just changing them would be okay?

Havoline is really good. It’s a global oil giant - caltex/chevron.

You may also go for Total fully synthetic oil but in my experience not as good as Havoline.

Run 0w20 or 5w30 fully synthetic oils the engine will run for decades. Just don’t go for thicker grade than this no matter the mileage —- which our desi ustaads love to suggest - a remnant of decades old thinking when fully synthetic oils were not developed, and engines did not have tight clearances.

As for gear oil, I’m not sure what’s the change interval for manual transmission.

For coolant, if it’s never been changed before you can go ahead - lasts 100,000 km or 5-6 years. Not the red one though that is short life.

For brake fluid only go to dealership that has proper brake fluid changing machine. Others will ruin it. I have heard Toyota gateway motors has it but give them a call.
