So the feel varies from car to car thats all i can deduce.
On mobil 5w30 my 1GD hilux engine feel has changed at 2500kms. i plan to use it till 5k kms atleast. I am not extending as its semi synthetic.

I also use 20w-40 mineral oil in old car and drain at 5k kms

20w-40 is used in bikes, diesel engines.

source is correct and so is your understanding.

the numbers you see in the viscosity rating are for a range, e.g. 40 can start from 13cst and go till 17cst. when hot.

but 30 can also be at 13 cst - like the A3/B3 rated long range oil from castrol and shell.

ENJOY!! - this oil is used in race engines, those engines are not ustaad items.

0w2 and 0w5, ultra light and thin engine oil grades!!! And in racing engines!!! For ultimate protection and horsepower!!! (where its generally believed to pour in quite thick engine oils, like 5w-60 or 10w-60, etc.)

(I felt, as if I am gonna have cardiac arrest. Only GOD knows, how mechanic / Usta'ad is gonna handle it?)

both are 5w30. , but viscosity is slightly different.... both are good oils

they also have different flash points and pour points....

Brother 2nd link (I.e. the link for Total) is working absolutely fine, however, the first link, the one for Shell, isn't opening.

Kindly recheck, and it seems that mistakenly, Same link has been mentioned for both, I.e. Taken for Total (with first link having some digits missing from the end).

a lot of people in Pakistan think that local ustaads build race engines.. LOL. its a completely different ball game.

And the old heavy oil race engines are not the same build that uses these 0w2 oils.

they can't balance the piston assemblies and get the clearances right and claims are about making race engines.... EPIC

Yes. Rightly said and fully agreed!

I also thought that racing engines always require quite thick engine oils (irrespective of clearances, new Vs old tech. etc.), but now, I think I know nothing about the most recent racing engines and the tech. Involved, which require 0w2 or 0w5 engine oils.

The most recent and thinnest engine oil grade, which I have seen written in owners / users manuals, and for passenger cars, is 0w-16, which is being recommended by Toyota, in some of their vehicles (mostly hybrid, or in newer engines, having tight clearances). But this 0w2 and 0w5, and in racing engines, its totally baffling for me!

let me confuse you further.

modern engines have oil pumps that "REDUCE" oil pressure at high power demand from engine. They are mechanically or electronically controlled to change the "VOLUME" of oil pushed from the oil pump.

Yes, the values are different, however, I believe that the values are within the limits set and defined by Society of Automotive Engineers, International.

All these guys need to cash in this heightened sensitivity of theirs for NVH manufacturer tests. Trust me - a human instrument is paid a massive amount for their "processed input" - Just like the people who have a heightened sense of smell get paid like a king. or tetrachroma people.

You need to visit us again and see that some people still believe that red brick is strong because it "feels" heavier and not hollow

Most of the people are more then happy to live in 18th century as long as it "feels" good enough science jai bhar mai feel is everything
