Ti, What city do you live in?
Toyota suggested me the same but i only did that once. Their oil was very basic non synthetic one so it cannot hold too much carbon or other impurities. I have gone for liqui moly that someone in a car community suggested. I researched and found out it was of high quality and has a lot of additives that makes it long lasting. I was told that it can last 10k km but i will replace after 7500 - 8000 just as a precaution. I was suggested to use CERATEK, which is a compound that improves engine smoothness and I shifted to 10w40 instead of 20w50. i saw a very noticeable difference in sound reduction of engine as well as a slight mileage increase. CERATEK lasts for 40-50k kms. Will see on 5k mileage when i change the filter if the car has reduced any oil. so far i do not see a noticeable reduction. I went through many blogs and car forums and finally decided on liqui moly. 2500 - 3000 km oil change interval seems ridiculous.
p.s. There are many liqui moly dealers but only one is mentioned on their original website in Pakistan. He is in Defence, ghazi road, Lahore. you can call them and ask for reputable dealership if you are in another city.
