your car felt light because you moved to a lower viscosity oil , not because it was liquimoly, try caltex 10w30

if the engine is genuine, just replacing valve seals (without removing engine head) will reduce any oil consumption significantly

yes never done any engine work except what is recommended such as the tensioner, mounts and belts were changed.

Another friend sold his perfectly decent Altis because it was consuming oil, told him multiple times it's normal for these engines to consume a bit of oil. An ustaad told him his engine needed rebuilding so he sold it. Furthermore he was using Shell 20w-50.

yup, this and the 2.4 camry, I think is known as 2AZ-FE are known to consume engine oil, waise audi turbos consume engine oil too. I think it's the general mindset that is afraid of oil consumption.

what is the change interval on the caltex, you must talking about havoline right ?

Yes. Havoline formula 10w30. Atleast 3k and upto 5k.

If the engine is dirty or burns oil, change at 3k.

If it is not api certified, it may or may not be compatible with your car. Like it may contain too much zddp which will damage the catalytic converter.

Amsoil is not a standardizing and testing authority, it's own words alone bear no credibility.

Its like a parent saying, mera bacha sabse acha hai....

There can be various reasons for automotive manufacturers using different lubricants in their products. One can ask why Ferrari isn't using BP instead of Shell? or any other brand?
If you have any technical or lab data to prove AMSOIL is inferior in quality that's a different argument than. so far Amsoil has outstanding reviews where people are using it for decades..

I made no comment on whether AMSOil makes inferior or substandard products. They make products that are not API certified, that is all. As I said above, I personally prefer my choices for engine lubricants to be API certified for my vehicles. Of course you can use whatever oils you like in your vehicles. I have no problem with that at all.

that also means that local oils are not inferior to amsol. but they are a whole lot cheaper.

One of the key features of API certification is the AMAP - Aftermarket Audit Program that compares oils bought in the market to test against original standards to ensure that all batches produced continue to meet the requirements.

In easy words, one batch may be very good while another may be absolutely crap

For any oil that is not API certified, that will always remain an issue. Generally, use of any non-API certified oil will void manufacturer warranties if there is an issue attributable to the oil.

Well, Amsoil as an oil isn't bad ( if original) but imo it's better to run locally available oils for shorter intervals rather then using Amsoil for 10k KMS on a single go.
Also, as i said earlier as well i couldn't find any difference between Honda genuine 0W-20 and Amsoil 0w-20 signature series oil.

my guess is, some of the stuff in the market will be cheaply priced discarded products from a foreign auction. Such can be sold for good profits

AFAIK, it is only the 5W20 version.

All of the amsoil products have api ratings on them who asked that they don't had api ratings on them.
I had bunch of old aamsoil with me for my personal use they all have api ratings on them.

It is possible that fake product dont have on them
