Maintaining UPS/car batteries

Hello peeps ,
i have a question for all gurus , i am using ARTRONIC POWER MINI Series inverter , the side adress is Artpower Mini Inverter from Artronic,Turkey - Turkish Manufacturer,Exporter,Seller , there u can check inverter specific details , my question is i put a 100 amp osaka battery last year , it was observed that inverter overcharge the battery and one of the battery cell gone cos of that over charging but battery still giving 2 hours backup on 1 fan and 2 lights open , i went to the repair shop and they said they cannot do any thing about this inverter as its programmed internally and u cannot program it again , i told them inverter is over charging but they were not in a mood or informative enough to answer it , anyways coming back to the point do u guys think 100 amp battery is too small for this ups and i have to installed atleast 165 amp battery my usage is not that much like 1 fan and 3 lights for 2 hour backup thats why i installed 100 amp to start with but with this overcharging of inverter makes me think if i am using less amp , reply would be appreciated P.S note : Since i know one cell was gone what i do i wont let the battery charge for more than 3 hours cos inverter wont ever full it , it keep charging it till it will blow , so i make a habbit to take main line off from charging battery for more than 3 hours and after 3 hours i put the main line in directly which is pain in bum to be honest .
So i would appreciated if any one would explain me this all .

Your ups seems ok....not overcharging........Cell is usually short because because of manufacturing defect.

is it safe for the batteries to connect it in parallel. on a 24v ups.

whether it is 12 volts or 24 volts or 48 volts .... u can add parallel batteries ........... if ur charger is strong enuf to charge between 15 to 20 amperes then u can add two more batteries with ur existing batteries ... if ur ups is 24 volts then add two more batteries with it ...... 2 X 12 VOLTS in series + 2 X 12 VOLTS in series and then connect first pair of 24 volts to second pair of 24 volts parallel and enjoy . many of my clients are doing this with APC 1.5 KVA ....

for your load, 100A is enough for u........charging rat is ok upto 135 battery.

1 battery is of 12 volt.........by connecting two batteries in series ampere remains while volts are added up.
In parallel combination volts remain same while ampere get double.

Dear ishtiaq778 bro for my load yes i know 100 amp is fine but i am not asking the question if load is enough for 100 amp the question i am asking is , looking at my inverter specification using 100 amp is appropriate or do i need to use larger battery amp like 135amp cos invertor seems to overcharge 100 amp when battery was new , hopefully i explain my question this time .

Once i was a local ups user but not any more ... i had 1000 watts and it was 12 volt dc ups ... but i installed 4 X 12 volts dry used battery in parallel and backup was like 8 to 10 hours ... so if u want increase ur backup time than install batteries in parallel. ..

Ic. I was not aware of it. I have seen the diagram but how will i connect them with ups? I am also not using a desi ups but Homage inverter ( axiom series ) which is 800 watts. Currently i am using single battery 175 amp Osaka.

local or pak cheen dosti ups ..... same thing for me . both r sine wave ups .... producing humming sounds from fans .. but local ups is better than an inverter ... any ways if ur using 12 volts wala ups then there is an inverter ( HOMAGE ) and one single battery ...... the two wires coming out of inverter is red and black ....... now first we ll install batteries .. let say u want to install two numbers of 12 volt batteries ....... place both batteries side by side ....connect the PLUS SIDE CONNECTOR of first battery to the PLUS SIDE CONNECTOR of second battery and then connect MINUS SIDE CONNECTOR of first battery to the MINUS SIDE CONNECTOR of second battery ... this can be done with help of jumper ...... take a small piece of battery wire and this will be your JUMPER ....... insert the jumper inside your battery terminal ....... then from the inverter the BLACK WIRE will be inserted in MINUS SIGN of the first battery and RED WIRE will be inserted into the PLUS SIGN of the SECOND BATTERY .......... your setup is completed now ....... now ur setup is 12 Volts and 300 amperes ........

Dear, if you think that ur inverter overcharge the battery, then buying bigger battery is not the solution......it will overcharge that battery too......
as per website, it gives max 10A and u can go for 135 for more back up time

This is setting of your ups according to website info......which seems perfect........
Overchaging is assumed when ups does not cut of charging..........this happens in two situations.
1. Fault in ups......not cut off @ preset point
2. Fault in battery .......cell short..............

Bhai aap se pochna tha k main nay desi type ka UPS banwaya hua hy.jo k 1000 watts ka hy.copper ka hy.iss k saath me kam se kam aur ziada se ziada kaun c amp ki bettery laga sakta hoon.?2010 me lia tha abhi tak tu repair nhi krwaya.
Pehlay main new battery excide 200 ya 190 layta tha.max 1 year k baad bettery khatam ho jati thee.main 3 years se recycle jo betry milti hy woh lagata hoon.last year main nay apny UPS k saath 120+ 120 ki bettery lagai.per itna backup nhi mill saka jitna hona chahiay tha.UPS tu mera single bettery wala hy.per double battery iss liay lagai thee k shayed acha backup milay.per nhi.plz suggest k 1000watt k saath kaun c bettery theek rahay ge aur mera backup kaisay ziada ho sakta hy.plz help yaar

Sure brother. My Osaka battery has already wearied out so a new battery is already due. I was thinking of buying one 180 watts battery but after having seen this, i will get two small batteries now preferably 120 amps each. Thank you once again.

i wanted to ask that i m osaka 175AH battery with NS inverter ups from january 2014. almost 1 n half year is gone by n battery is running good with good backup. i wanted to ask is no battery water is changed n after installation battery is only charged by ups but not through that heavy charger at battery shops.
is this advisable to change battery water n get it charged at battery shop or just check the gravity of water n charge at shop or check gravity n keep it getting charged through ups.

Brother you cannot use double battery with a single battery ups because your ups is built on 12v where as for two batteries it has to be 24v. This is the reason i think it did not give backup on two batteries. If you want to use two batteries 1st convert your ups to 24v meaning both transformer and kit will have to be changed.

Please read the second last section of main thread. In 24 Volts system, two batteries are connected in series to make it a 24 Volt system, but you can also connect two batteries in parallel to keep it a 12 volt system as it will again double the backup time, two batteries will go well with 12 volt system, but amp-hr ratings of both batteries will add up while calculating the new charging rate.

If your battery is working fine and giving good back up time then there is no need of any such think.......let it connected with ups in working condition.
