Maintaining UPS/car batteries

I have heard that Original battery plates are White and Fake battery plates (made in Jhang) are yellowish. Don't know how much true it is.

cant say anything, only manufacturer can answer this question.

Dear All, Have any of you heard about a device "DELTA PULSER"? As per my information it is used to 'desulfate' the battery plates when charging and discharging cause sulfation on the plates and sulfation causes poor battery performance. The device has two wires (+ & -) which are connected to the same terminals of battery. A LED is turned ON Green when battery is under desulfation process. A battery of 175 amps needs 3 days to completely desulfate.

I dont think you can desulphate the batteries without pouring something inside them. To me what this system actually does is that it keeps the battery on charge at a rate of 1-1.5 amp alongwith the UPS charging and within 3 days it will provide 72-108 amperes to the battery which will fully charge the battery and increase the backup and customer will say wow my battery is working again

let me narrate you an example. I had a 48amp battery that was drained for as much as 2 years. It was put out of use 2 years ago and for last 1 year lying in my house without electrolye without charging. Now what I did flush the batteries and pour fresh electrolye and give to battery shop for charging what he does is plug in charger at 25 amp and after charging for 1 hour disconnect the charger. I came after 3-4 hours of giving him the battery thinking that he might have put it on charger till now. When i reached him he said your battery is gone and does not charge, I sort of believed him but connect the battery with my small 2000watt generator. The generator charges at around 2 amperes. The generator is self start but I start it on kick now after running the generator for 3 hours I just out of curiosity tried to start the generator on self and it started. Now here is my battery which was pronounced dead by the battery wala and was left alone for 2 years is working again with a slight charging ampere of 2.

So to me the system looks like this. Rest this is Pakistan people are uneducated and you can tell them any story you want just like aga waqar

I have installed the DELTA PULSER to my ups battery. The ups is homeage old version having 3 LEDs only.

My VOLTA IT-1000 battery was very weak. i mean it would run a ceiling fan and a liquid mosquito repellant heater for just 50 minutes. i will check the timings after a whole week of desulfation... lets see what comes out of it...!!!

Does this delta pulser require AC input or any current input for that matter

Dear Brother, This device is attached to the battery only, no AC power required for its functioning. Secondly, about its authenticity, please note that I just came across this device and shared it with my Pakwheels fellows. Well, anyone who is from the related field is welcome to express his expert opinion for all of us. Thanx !

You can go through the theory by googling desulfator, pulse charger, etc.

I runs on battery voltage and generates continous pulses impulsed back to the battery to resonate the crystallized sulfate to be removed off the lead plate.

@ talhawaheed: have you tried this unit? if possible can you provide me the solution of acid equal to the quantity required for my battery. I will pick it up from you if you are in islamabad... I will pay for the material cost along with a cup of tea...

Not just oxygen, hydrogen is also released in the battery charging process. It indicates that the battery is close to attaining a full charge.

If the bubbling is vigorous, it can indicate that the charging current is too high, which can damage the battery. The battery will become excessively warm or even hot to touch.

99 % of batteries used in Pakistan are lead Acid batteries and we are performing flush on it on need to need basis.

Overcharging.

Black caps can indicate overcharging, but the key thing is how long the caps take to turn black. If the caps go from white to black in a month then it's not an issue, but if they go black in a few days then it means the battery is being overcharged.

the gravity of my Ups Batteries going down day by day.Today in some cells it is 1.200,1.150.Please help and the terminal of one battery is converting its colour from silver to black.

Both batteries are 3weeks old and they look like that these are 3years old batteries.I will post pictures for reference.

find out the AMP-HR rating of your batteries, then divide the AMP-HR rating /10 which will give you a charging rate. Adjust the UPS according to this new charging rate. Load shedding is so frequent that batteries are not getting ample time to properly charge its self before next load shedding arrives so that's way gravity is going down. its very important that batteries able's to charge its self as quickly as possible so that its prepared for next load shedding. that is don't by method that i have told you .

It was working fine, one week before, It give a problem of tripping on two fans, I have checked and observed that +ve terminal of battery is almost black and feels heat on it. So I arranged new battery terminals and changed them after using sand paper on +ve terminal. It works fine for one weeks, now today it again create same problem, I again analyzed and found blackness on +ve terminal and also red cable was extremely hot at that time.

Now again I swapped cables with each other after using sandpaper on +ve terminal and plus putted some engine oil on terminal, again it is working good. Please help me, what is the problem and how can I rectify it????

Loose, corroded terminals always creates problems just like you quoted. You should have an AMP-METER and test the current flowing through the batteries and also while they are being charged. This is the best method to verify if terminals are connected properly or not. If contact point between battery terminals and UPS positive or negative wire is compromised then terminals tend to heat up, batteries won’t get its share of charging and in return won’t be able to handle the load. This was one major issue, I used to face in start once I had four batteries connected with the UPS system, it was very late I realized that entire load was being shared by one set whereas another set was not conducting at all due to bad contact points. Always buy new terminals, cut the wires from end to create new contact points. Corrosion on terminals happens more frequently on old batteries.
Dont put oil on battery terminals, i never did it and i dont think its useful.

Will anybody help me rectifying the problem that what happened to my first battery.

Both batteries are 1 month old and the first battery terminal is also black.

2nd one is OK no problem.

Please tell me should i go for warranty claiming or it is OK.

1st Battery dont know what happened to plates but they are losing their shape.

2nd one is OK as look at the plates.
