Assalam O Alaikum!
Dear Pakwheelers, hope you all are doing well. Alhamdullilah, this is my first personal car and the only car I can comfortably buy, maintain, and keep. Thanks to @ali454 @sleeper @omersiddiqui5482 for recommending to buy a relatively new car.
Purchase decision
I wanted a car that had good fuel economy and low maintenance cost. Mehran was the only car that fit my budget. I had good experience with Paksuzuki Certified Used Cars with my current car (WagonR VXL 2015) and I managed to buy this 2015 Mehran in 705.000/- It is used 60,000 KM and after viewing many cars, this was the only one is great condition. Complete service history of the car, including oil changes, is available.
Ill defined gear problem
One of the biggest challenges for me would be adjusting to the brakes and gearbox of mehran. The gear box has 'ill-defined' gears, meaning it's hard to ascertain car is in which gear because of slopiness. Is there a cure for this or is it okay?
Brake problem
Of all the Mehran I have driven, this one has better braking. Reason could be the fresh, thicker tires that come with the car. Nevertheless, I am planning to install servo brakes for safety in the car. What can be the easiest and most practical way to do that?
Cooling system
All mehran of models 2015-2016 were unanimously being run on water instead of petrol, and this one is no exception. There is some noticeable rust in the system. When I asked the dealership to pour coolant, they said I would have to replace all hose pipes in addition to the coolant since some rust is present and coolant might damage the pipes. They quoted me an estimate figure of 25k for replacing everything in the cooling system, radiator included.
I know for a fact that this can be done in much cheaper costs and same quality outside, but I am hesitant as this is dealership mainained car from the start and I don't want to get local mechanic dirty hands on the car.
Money is not a problem if I get a freedom from overheating and stupid problems for at least 2 years. What would you people suggest? @Xulfiqar @dr3vil I understand you have experience with these cars, your suggestion would be valuable.
Other than that, do let me know what oil to use in the car, how regularly to change it, etc.
