@sam885555 I have mehran 2008, agaunst all odds i flushed my cooling system with tatri and then neutrilized it with baking soda, all the rust kachra came out. Then i poured distilled water made at home, till now no leakage and no engine high temp Alhamdolilah

bhai if u have done the flush. pls put coolant because it stops from rusting. rust will accumulate again if u use water

Salam Brothers, I hope all well.
Need some guidance & expert opinion form you guys on my 2008 Mehran VX. I am using this car almost 6 years but never did any body work (Denting/ Painting) even "Qalam" . Although having some scratches & small dents( attached pictures). Its is 100% genuine from inside & out side.
Despite having CNG it is complete running on petrol since 4 years .Mechanically i never compromise on its service and when it knocked any small issue i repaired same time.
Now I want to upgrade by selling this CAR and purchasing any upgraded (2012-2018) model of cultus or swift.. Please guide me should i spend some money to do its denting work (Dry denting, as i don't want to loose paint) & inner work (roof lining, door panels, carpet floor mat etc) . Will it give me some benefit or that will not effect its market price.Or i sale it as it is..
I shared some of its pictures for your judgment.

IF i go for little repair work then which one is more important for selling point of view. As i mentioned mechanically & engine wise car is perfect.

There is a norm in used car market that a shiny good looking car immediately attracts a buyer. I had same model mehran in same color exactly which i sold in 2016. The car was excellent overall and no dents etx. However the car was having paint touch-up almost everywhere on body BUT car was not accidented or hit from anywhere. It took less than a week to sell it. I got mixed buyers, some of them tried to buy at cheapest price by claiming that your car is full painted, obviously to earn supernormal profit out of it by selling in market. My reply was always that the car is 8 years old (at that time) and there is no chance of a 100% touch-up free car that has beem driven in congested Karachi all of its life. In thr end, got 1 genuine buyer and he paid my price and took the car. Lessons for you: do not underestimate your own car even if its touched up as its very normal, unless it is majorly accidented. Be prepared for a lot of useless offers and bottom prices, never fall for them, a genuine buyer will come for sure. Get your car in tip top condition and you will sell it much easily and buyer will be attracted by itself. Here i am assuming your car is accident free, no paperwork issues etc.

Brother thankyou for your comprehensive & detailed review. But my concern was that if i spend some money & time to get it repair , will it give me some profit . For example , if i spend +- 20000 on it to get tiptop, will i get back those amount. Or i will sale it as it is to save my time. Mechanical and documents all OK. Only its outer appearance pushing me to get dry denting / Buffing job. So that at least i will not loose too much.
What you suggests??

i guess no. jitna ap spend karna chate ho utna ki kam sell kardo. estimate lagao ap k kitna expense ana. minus that ost from the selling price. dont worry about door panels or roof. get a samad bond and fix the roof. take out these door panel do some hand work but dont break them. get new door panel pins if broken and good to go. install handle on your driving door. leave the diggi dent and bonet dent. fix your door if u want too. and is chez ki koi guarantee nahi k lagae hua paisey wapis aney hain. sorry in advance, when you were using this car khud k lia ap ne maintained rkhi nahi ab bech rahe ho tou keya faida paisey lagane k.

Yes , that was my real concern , I want spend minimum so that i will not get loss. I checked with some mechanics regarding dents. Majority of them told me that bonnet & Diggy dents will not repair by dry denting because they are sealed from inside. When they will open inner seals by cutting torch , sure paint will go .So i decided to remove dents of door and fenders & get buffed. Also to install roof lining (New) because old is beyond to repair by samad bond.
When i bought CNG was installed but almost 4 years i completely drive on petrol & didn't use CNG & removed CNG cylinder & kept in house store . Only CNG kit kept installed.

Can we use platinum or iridium plugs in Euro Mehran? any harm to engine? Any mileage increase or just pick difference?

hey Mehran users, Many of you have complaint regarding fuel smell inside the cabin while driving. so i am posting here some pics for reference which will help u ppl to diagnose the area which needs to be addressed for fuel smell problem. this is the area behind the left seat ( the inside area from where the fuel is filled). You can see there are rubber pipes clamped coming in and out from the fuel filler pipe. Rust is there at the neck of the pipe Rust on the clamps heavy rust at the bottom…

Hellos guys.

My uncle just gave me a Mehran to do some repair work. Its a 2011 Carby model. The car hasnt been very well maintained. The front end was all rusty. The car has come in for front suspension work and the main gatri due to which the engine, Radiator everything is hanging.

and he wanted to fix the brakes.

i have left the car with the mechanic, who gave it to the denter to rebuild the front to fix the radiator in place and get a new Gatri.

Further i have suggested them to install brake booster/Master Cylinder which should help in better braking.

One more thing the car had a AC installed but like all other mehrans the car gets hot with AC, They probably havnt used the AC since 2 to 3 years now.

So any suggestions how can we make the AC work without stressing on the engine.

a AC mechanic i know told me if the engine in good a bigger radiator should fix the issue and the AC would work perfectly.

i would love to have suggestions how to make a mehran run smoothly. So i can help them in a better manner.

Do we have to lube the outside of the bushing too ? Or just the Bolt and sleeve ? As most truck forums i'm going through suggest only to lube the eye of the bushing

Just the eye of the bushing - not on outside.

tighten the bushing bolts only after wheels are raised to normal driving height. This video explains why

Hi I am from Multan and suffering from many issues of my mehran, recently I spent about 25 k on mechanical work which I don't know kind of what!!! But the reason I spent this amount is still there, as I realized that mechanic was not compitent. There are issues of excel, brakes, and the noises come from the engine portion

U mentioned in that thread regardung bad effect of engine washing with water..
Bhai during car service , they wash engine with water in pakistan... Has bad effect on engine life?? If so how??
My mehran vxr used by me from day 1 consumes half a litre of oil at 1lac 5 k kms.. used with AC on all time... And many long trips to hilly areas.. changed oil, oil filter and air filter every 3000 km.. regular gear oil, brake oil changed... Used toyota genuine coolant throughout..But consuming oil at this much low mileage has taken to my heart... Disappointed to get such low mileage before engine is worn.. Used suzuki 10w40 initially, then total 10w40, then switched to zic 10w40 ...and now when it started reducing oil.. put 20w50 zic SN... And at half a litre loss, shifted to 20w50 havoline SG.. I wonder if anything went wrong..also i warmed it up for 5 min before every trip

your engine burns half litre oil every 5000 kms?

and yes, quenching a hot engine with cold water is very bad, just like you dont dunk a hot cooking utensil in cold water. You can warp or fracture the material.

If you do wish to wash it, then do it when its stone cold.

Half a liter oil consumption? Just? You already mentioned that you are doing alot of highway trips and long journey to hilly areas.. it's normal for a engine to consume oil at higher speeds higher rpms higher load during hilly areas drive etc..stick to 10w-40 .. 200-300 ml oil consumption over 1000 kms in totally fine and acceptable .. engine na khulwa Lena bhai Desi Mechanic ko dekha k .. top up when required..
Check pcv valve and have you found oil in air intake pipe/hosing?

No brother over 2800 km to 3000 km run... I never took drain interval beyond 3000kms.. Car doesnt give blue smoke. Just black soot in exhaust..
