By the way I too have a Mehroo 2004 LE (bought it brand new in 2004)..though Mehran is commonly believed to be a 'tin ka duba with four wheels' but the thing is GOOD,, easy to maintain, handy to drive around in cities, and interestingly pretty strong engine and very good ground clearance. Have taken it to Norther Areas and places like where the owners of other more powerful two wheels-driven cars dont dare to take

During the past 7 and a half years, the only money I have spent on this car is regular maintenance (meaning, oil & oil filter and money on periodic maintenance)

Sir first of all it reduces oil then Weak rings plus valve seals can be problem as its reducing oil and on start up too much blue smoke
and Check what digitalmohsin suggested plus try first to rotate the sensor its near carb my mehc broke it and it wasn't showing any reading but an turned on at 50% and new one i got had an error also it showed 10% less then what actual reading was

How much will it cost in total (parts + labour) for rings and valve seals. Any place where i can get genuine parts and any reliable mechanic?

Seems support to all other problems is paused until leaf counts discussion is decided. Guys leave it if there is one leaf or more than it. Come to solution of other problems and respond to my post # 94

I am feeling that idle engine sound of my mehran 2010, 62K approx driven, is bit increased. What should I do as routine maintenance to decrease this sound. Till now I am using ZIC A+ 5W/20 and car is not decreasing engine oil.

Increased engine sound at idle?? check and correctly adjust the valve clearances with correct timing orientation of the camshaft belt pulley and not the distributor, it makes a great deal of difference.

Secondly check the engine mounts for collapsing and softness, causing vibration to transfer to the body - and I hope you have changed the gearbox oil in regular intervals too. All matter in sound.

Wonderful thread! I too have a 94 and a 2002 Mehran. My 02 Mehran just completed 100k Kms. I have changed less parts on the older one than the newer one.

Thanks brother! at idle I mean when car is started and not running. I hope you understand it 60K+ periodic maintenance is also due. So I will ask Suzuki guy to check this as you advised. Secondly I changed gearbox oil long before. Thanks again for your support.

Sir jee Tappet kab karwaiye they??? most of time we neglect tappets and sound is like some old khyber taka taka tka tka sound ?
plus engine mounts and Radiator mountings one time my mehroo had radiator loose 90% sound was gone when it was tighten

Sir ur location suggest Karachi so i can't help in this manner of suggesting a mechanic
and Genuine parts are concerned then u can do 2 things first try to get idea how much a local mechs charge and a 3s dealership and parts well u can get them from any big shop which sells suzuki stuff
rings i had replaced back in 2009 were for 1200rs and all cost was around 5K as u need to change engine oil as well when engine is re assembled

@ekdriftr, i have a gut feeling, Xulfiqar bhae is correct, as Petrol variants have one, maybe CNG variants have more then one

bro my 02 mehran was a non CNG Vx and had a local fitted CNG kit w/o any venturi system and it had 3 layers my cuz has a 98 mehrn and its all petrol driven no CNG and it also has 3 now i don't understand how may i put it to u guys :-!

a question for about mehran's mileage: what is the mileage of the new car on petrol and what it should be after engine overhaul? and at what speed to drive to maximize the mileage in city and on highway.

Sir for mileage on petrol i think it was near 12-14 in city w/o AC and on CNG i can tell u one thing
what i did was just simple tuned it and the idle knob in the carb was adjusted like that car gave jerks while i was standing stationary but it didn't shut down my mehran had a 40Kg cylinder and daily route was 25Km in city so it used to give me 125km in one cylinder in city
and speeds to shift use a light foot and
1st gear shift to 2nd before hitting 20 shift to 3rd when ur about to hit 40 and rest if u hit 60 then give it 4rth that was how i drove

I have opened these up many times (thats why I told you the correct technique to tighten the shackle bolts too) - and there was one long leaf everytime - unless the owner added leaves to compensate the CNG cylinder load or something.

All Mehrans come with one leaf spring on each wheel at the rear. All additions are done later - adding more leaves cause a very bad and hard ride from the rear.

My Mehran has 2 leaf springs and despite the bumpy ride, it saved my *** the other day when the left side's main leaf broke into 2 and my car suffered from a massive dip to the left side. But it could still be driven because of the extra leaf and I actually drove it back home some 20 odd kms with 3 passengers. The next day, drove it from Defence to Saddar to my mechanic/kamani wala. Conclusion, I'm sick and tired of the harsh ride but will NEVER remove the extra leaf!

Speaking of kharchas, i had the following done that day:
@ The Kamani wala:
Pair of new Leaf springs RHS and LHS: 700Rs total
Kamani guy's labour: 1100Rs :o (he was also working on a Datsun Sunny taxi and despite doing more work on that taxi, he took only 300Rs from him. He compensated by taking more from me)

@ the mechanic:
Replaced the black plastic instrument cluster cover (mine was broken): 250Rs for OEM
Pair of fender mounted indicators: 90Rs
1 back number plate light: 75Rs
4 new wheel bearings: 1300Rs
Labour: 800RS

for kamani work labor should have been 700 and for wheels bearings it should have been 200 a wheel plus 200 for khradia if front wheels bearings are replaced. i dont know abt karachi but these are the rates in lhr.

Thank you for your reply. Brother tappets are adjusted on each tuning. I took car to suzuki guys most according to its service manual. I will get these things checked in coming service, thanks again.

I have installed after market CNG kit and it is attached with firewall due to which the CNG pipe coming out from it and ending in venturi is in "S" shape. I observed a bent in CNG pipe towards kit side and the pipe is pressed 50%. There is a joint for "T" bolt and then a small piece of pipe is again there and is connected with CNG kit. Should I install an elbow to make free flow of gas of replace whole pipe?

This is how it is in my car, car is on petrol. the car is really bumpy. i think my father got it altered or somthing. coz before i got this car it was not bumpy at all.
