MG Pakistan has reopened the bookings for their premium SUV, the MG HS, but with a surprise. A price hike! The company has issued an official notification to inform the new price of CBU units of HS, which is PKR 5,749,000. The old price was PKR 5,449,000, meaning an increase of PKR 300,000. Meanwhile, the booking price is PKR 2,000,000.

We saw the price hike coming..
This price increase is not at all surprising. We foresaw it when there was an import duty hike of the MG cars. Since the launch of MG HS, this is the first price hike by MG Pakistan. But it's not going to be the last. There's another one coming by the end of this year.
MG Pakistan has been generating a buzz in the local market since the beginning. The company celebrated the milestones of booking thousands of MG HS in different cities of Pakistan. These celebrations were soon followed by a controversy of MG doing an under-invoicing scam with buyers. FBR investigated the matter and found the suspicion to be false.
The public was still not over the scam, the investigation, and the judgment. People were still making up their minds about the authenticity of this brand when we heard about the issue of late deliveries of MG cars. A group of unhappy MG customers even gathered at the Lahore dealership, demanding the deliveries of their HS SUVs. The customers cooled down a bit after the company acknowledged the issue and assured that they are doing the best they can.
That brings us to this price hike. MG Pakistan has surely been through a lot trying to earn a place in the hearts of Pakistani buyers. We are not sure how we feel about the company's move to increase MG HS price. What do you think about this?
