Mira cvt warning light

Salam pakwheelers. I handed over my mira es 2012 model to my younger brother a year ago and went abroad. I came back and found out that car is in really bad shape. These days I am busy getting my car fixed. There is just one suggestion I want from you guys. I have this warning light CVT keeps blinking on dashboard. There are alot of electrician related work too which will be done this saturday. Just to be sure I got my car to oil shop to get its lubricants changed. Somebody told me that usually cvt sign shows up because of gear oil. So I asked the guy at oil shop to change it too. The guy checked it and told me that it doesn't need to chnage and there might be some electrical related problem. Car is driven upto 106000 km. Can you please suggest me what measures I can take to tackle this cvt problem.....I think 106000 km is too much not to change car's gear oil but the mechanic is trustworthy and suggested me that it doesn't need to change.

Get a OBD scanner and you will find the error code share that here

You can use 500 rupee bluetooth scanner which are available on olx (may or may not read all error)

Check with some workshop that has professional scanner and get it scanned from there

It depends on each car.
It usually ranges from 40k-80k Km

For mira 2010 its 50k . 2010 model was the old shape and 2012 is the new shape dont know if transmission is exactly the same or not
Try to find user manual and see which type of CVT fuild you need (Extremely important) If you put the wrong one in your transmission will go kaput

First find a manual and share the picture of the oil specifications page then i will guide you how to change it cause CVT is complex and a desi mechanic kabara nikal de ga apki transmission ka so never allow him to do anything without knowing what to do

Exchange amount (ℓ): About 2.4 (drain), about 5.7 (total capacity)

This is the info I got from 2014 manual. I think it wull be similar for 2012.

I am in fsd right now. I think I should definitely change the oil. Is that transmission oil available on oil change shops ? Or its exclusive product.

There is a sensor on cvt casing just underneath the battery support plate. In my case it had leaked and shortcircuted. I too replaced cvt oil but issue was resolved on replacing that sensor.
You may get it checked as well.

Yes the cvt oil must be changed. Lower chamber be opened as well and cvt filter be washed with same oil.

Thanks. I am gonna buy the oil and will take it to my local mechanic to replace cvt oil or replacing it also needs special attention ? I don't want to get it done from authorized toyota dealer. Their prices are not affordable

Your mechanic is right .....connector is loose or broken

I dont think they charge way too much.

Try to take your car there but you can also call and inquire about the charges .

Oil is special and you need real genuine one no fake ones. brand doesn't matter as much as the type of CVT fluid does so you need to be extra careful and buy the right one

Lower chamber must be opened . First open the drain plug and let the old oil go out. Then remove the lower pan and jaali in it like a filter. Must clean all of that properly . Buy a new seal if available otherwise go for silicon while sealing the pan. Now locate the proper inlet for CVT fluid. Many people pour in from the dipstick hole and some through the bleed value

CVT is very complex so do your research first

i have PLEO Plus same as MIRA E.S.
Get the battery checked as my car was also giving CVT warning only when car was on ECO-Idle, battery change solved the problem.
if CVT light is permanently on that indicates a serious issue.
For CVT Fluid, you must take a look at the service manual's recommendations.

So the drain amount from the bolt only should 2.4 litre and after the pan total would be 5.7 according to the manual .

The best solution is to take it to Toyota Cantt 3S dealership and get it checked by. Mechanic Imran over there. I have suffered CVT issues recently and after going here and there to 'trustworthy' me Janice, I ended up at Toyota because believe me this is something that one doesn't wanna get messed up with.
