Hey Folks:
I got a query on the said vehicle on behalf of a friend. So, the thing is he is thinking to Purchase a 85-86 Pajero. We are wondering about its maintenance and parts availability in Karachi.
What should be critically checked?
Any advice on 4x4 documentation? Most likely we will be fetching the vehicle from punjab / up-country as the prices in KHI has gone insane. So, kindly advice on anything special needed to bring the vehicle from there by-road. Thanks.

bring it on.. parts are easily available, as the engine in pajero is same as shezore. maintenance is not a problem if the things are set properly.... do not change the engine, overhaul it instead.. that will cost u around 60k,

Thanks for reply Farhan brother. I am considering a Pajero 86. It's engine and suspension is recently overhauled. The drive was smooth with no squeaks or noises. The guy says he'll get the 4x4 in working condition too. The undercarriage is flawless. The only issue is outer body needs some attention. The car was literally parked in front of seaview so it's rusted. A few places are bit deep but most of the patches are superficial. The deal is being offered at around 450K. What do you think would be the cost of getting the body painted? Besides, may be need to get the AC work done too?

Yes, The guy showed the Chassis number. Just above the driver side back suspension. As I said undercarriage has no sign of rust. The car's suspension is properly restored and undercoated. It's 3 door btw. Thanks for the info brother. You really are much help. Meanwhile, if you can recommend any Diesel mechanic/ Denter workshop for the body work? Thank you

where do u live? i would suggest u to find a dainter and mechanic near to ur place...but what ever u decide just make sure to get the parts by your self and supervise the installation by ur self only , no matter how honest the mechanic would be..

if its diesel and running well then there would be no tuning issue.. just make sure that the diesel filter is working well,..

u have to take care of oil , air filter, change oil and filter every after 3000 km and air filter every after 10000km.. i use delo 300,

in first gen pajero clutch system some times gets problematic, just change the cylinder kit.. (get the genuine one ).. cost is reasonable. around 2500.

give heater twice for the first start.... and during the day no heater is needed.

there is one mechanic "Tufail Autos" at falak naz.. rite in front of airport. .. he is quite reasonable. better chk it out.

Which one is best keeping in mind the fuel consumption, maintenance and parts availability....plz help.

Brother, don't mind but all of your choices would give your bit trouble with parts, IMO. You may have to visit old parts market every now and then to search for critical parts. Besides, paying insane amounts for scarcely available parts. Suzuki Liana may have better situation but the car has a bad reputation when it comes to maintenance. If this is your first car then try to get a cleaner/ newer hatchback like Cultus/ Alto. They will give you very less trouble with operation and maintenance, if properly maintained. If you do have experience with car and their mechanics then go with Liana I guess. Pajero is a whole different genre. Avoid it, Unless you are much into off-roading and stuff. These are just my two cents.

Yes bro I have no experience and know nothing about cars this will be my first car.... And my range is 4 lac but few of my friends told me that not to go for Alto.... My intention was to get a car and then i would like to modified it rims, spoilers, exhaust, bumpers so many of my friends suggested me to go for Civic 95 and then I saw Pajero 86 and I also liked it..... So plz tell me which vehicle will be better for me keeping in mind the maintenance, fuel consumption, parts etc......
