Ok, I have decided in principle to re-do the whole Mutt. But 1st I need to take care of a few things and add a little bit more stuff. After that I do a paint strip of the floor and then an OD green paint.

All this shall be done by myself and since there's very little time after work, this is going to take a few weeks :S

Started off with the front, taking care of nasty dents.

Prepped with 2 coats of primar and let to dry over night.

The new, 2nd gerrycan holder, thanks to Mohsin.

Gerry in place, temp fixture so see the fitting.

The red light, wasn't looking good in red so I've decided to paint it too.
(1st two coats were applied last night, will dry & let to sit till today, since I get time after work, most of the pics are taken at night time)

Next, comes the 2nd spare wheel (that too thanks to Mohsin's arrangement), I think I'll have to re-install the rear sear again, due to technical fitting issues.

Sam - Great news... What are the plans by the way? we'd like to know the detail plans and then development one by one... are you doing it by yourself? Make sure that you keep rolling the pictures of each step.

Gerry bracket on the rear side looks great. pls check if it is not too close to the bumpter..

The plans are simple and yet not so simple. I plan to do a new paint job (yes, myself) so I'm 1st taking care of all the uneven surfaces, dents, marks, scratches etc.
Got hold of ship primar, so that will go on the floor, once it's all stripped & cleaned.

I'm being forced to put in a roll bar, so I might put an IDF style one, with a few modification of my own. The brackets need to go on the inside.

I'll take off the bonnet today to straighten out the lines and mend a few bumps, will take it to the denter for a pro job.

The rear gerry actually sits on the bumperet, but since I have a can holder, I'll make that rest on the bumberet and then put the can in.

Then I plan to change the cushy seats to stock kind. I just hate these seats.

All this is going to be slow, but then I'm not in a hurry. I just want to get the maximum done myself so I'm satisfied. I know I may leave out some details, but then they can be perfected next time around

The hood (bonnet) is off and at the dentor's as of last night. Let see when he gets free from a Mustang to work on it.

I guess it worked too much as I was determined to get rid of all the paint, it polished the whole thing, leaving it to a chrome finish. Now the problem is that it would be hard to paint on this surface.

Lesson learnt, DO not use machined wire brush on body panels or parts meant to be painted

Painting the above electrical outlet was a nuisance, as I had used so much of the wire brush on it that it came out with a polished surface. Seems as if it had been chromed in the factory, but since they are galvanized, primar was needed as a base to paint over.

I applied primar with short quick bursts of spray to give it a coarse finish (have been told that a 180 grit sand paper would have done the jobe too), let the primar dry over night & applied the paint in the morning. 2 coats one after the other & it shall dry out the whole day.

Now painting the gas tank cap would be much easier.

Just came back from a visit to a tannery. Selected some cow hide for the seats :D.

Haven't been given a quote yet as they need to meet my thickness needs (it was too thick). Fingers crossed for when they do let me know of the price of the two hides.

I've planned to rip apart my seats and bring them to a more stock look, but in leather. Now only to see how well I succeed in that.

Sam good to see the rework on your Mutt with detailing in small but visible parts.... Stock is something hard to achieve but your commitment to the project is above all and hope you will achieve the desire finish in the end.... best of luck and keep us posted...

Yeah Sam - As long as i am holding the MUTT, i cant resist to visit this thread coz no doubts this is the best thread for the people who own or have interest in this vehicle.

The dentor's work is done, I took some time out to rub & prep the hood for the painter to finish off. Its now as smooth as you know what

@Sam, Good going with resto bro, U are doing it as per Classic Resto Manual :). Regarding Cow Hide, what color are you planning for seats? No doubt Cow hide has the best leather feel, but you would need to protect her from water.
