I am sorry to know that u r selling ur MUTT. U r the most knowledgeable person in the subject of MUTTology and provide lot of help to ppl throughout Pakistan. As far as ur backache is concerned, I am ready 2 treat u. :)
As u know that I am not a MUTT owner but its fan. Frankly speaking, I feel that I wont b able 2 manage keeping a MUTT bc of my profession. I ve read an advice by u 2 a beginner 2 go 4 a Suzuki jeep. It disappointed me a lot.
Actually, I ve a query. Recently, somebody told that some excellent condition MUTTs were available for sale in Karachi which were basically under use of UN in Afghanistan. These were white in colour. Do u have any idea?? 1 of my friends is interested.

Doc, I must have been in one of those phases where I suggested someone an SJ410 ......... or the guy must have really wanted a low maintenance thing.

As for your query, a bit of clarification...... There's no UN in afghanistan. The UN Mutts for sales did their time in UN PAKBATs in Africa. Primarily Congo and Sierra Leone.
I've seen a few of them and they seem to be in decent condition, bodywise.
Your friend can get a good bargain on them.

@Sam - FJ40 is gone as my brother couldnt restore it due to his time limitations - he was just motivated by my mutt otherwise he is actually a software engineer, and they guys dont have that patience to visit workshops that much

I've let the mutt go to Ali Zafar (a.k.a charged) of IJC. Amount was no good but i am happy that it has gone to a real enthusiast, who'll take care of her. Have let it go in 350k - registration responsibility was mine and i have paid 55k for its registration from lahore.

I've now bought BJ61 with 13BT - the LC is in great condition all original and actually belongs to Sardar Zulfiqar Khan Khosa. See the pics

Thanx 4 replying. Actually a consultant surgeon in my institute has brought a MUTT 4m karachi. Some1 told me that this jeep was in white UN colour at the time of purchase. It served in Afghanistan but as UN ppl ran 4m Afghanistan, these jeeps were hardly used so r in v good shape. Even its old documents show its UN association. Anyway it doesnt matter. The question is that do these UN jeeps have any edge over routine pak army jeeps? Any comment?

I hope that even after the sale of ur MUTT, u ll continue serving as Professor & Head of MUTTology Department on this thread

doc we hav some un mutts here in lahore they are in white colour and with un logo in centre of the hood
but they r not in good condition lots of body rust and all the gear hav been removed
the pak army ones are better in conditions
mine even comes with original jack and rod

one more thing u can get mutt up till 89 model in very good condition and now a days if u go to peshawar u will find lots of hummer stuff cominf from afganastian
like new meter pannels and light switch orignal hummer lights reflectors they all are new and fits mutts as well ur mutt will lokk very nice with all this new gear

The info may be flawed a bit, these are UN vehicles brought back by Pak UN mission units. One thing about them is that after being inducted into UN, they were able to get the much wanted parts, held back under sanctions.
From what I have seen of these vehicles, they have been in sound condition, but then it all depends on how long they have been kept before disposal.
The lot of UN vehicles auctioned was based in Malir and they disposed them off last year and then in May this year.

I shall continue with my duties, even if I'm too old for them
There's been no UN security force in Afghanistan, EVER !.

mutt i have checked it, i was passing by and i saw this mutt very very clean work this mech is good he takes pride in his work. being a aeronautical eng and pilot i have taking my mutt to him i recommend him to every one.

wow great..i my self am a student aircraft engineer =D
n e ways, that mechanic himself has outdone himself, nd he is and should be proud, his ustaad passed away last December and now after the restoration of this MUTT, his words were ''Yaar aaplogon ne mujhe bhi ustaad bana dia'' =D

While restoring a Mutt when the bare metal is exposed do I first apply red oxide and then puteen or it is ok to apply puteen on the bare metal as is the practise with mostly painters.

please also suggest a matt finish army green for my mutt under restoration.
You were very kind to ship me lights last year (if you recall).

Hello Sir, nice to hear from you again. Yes I do remember you.

As for your query, you can do either. Where there is humid climate (like Khi etc) it is better to get the base coat of red oxide or another anti-rust. A good quality primar also acts as one.

As for your choice of Matt Green, I think in Pindi you are going to have troubles moving around in that color. If you recall a few months back there was a notification in the papers saying 'military green' is ban on any vehicle & is bound to be confiscated.
I had to paint mine black, just because of that.
