Multan-Sukkur M5 Motorway Update?

Just back from kashmir to karachi

Yes y can take shah tabrez interchange then enter in multan just 2 km ahead there is shell pump which accept credit card we refulled from there for onward journer at 3am

First we fill from lahore then from shah tabrez as the from lahore to sukkur.is almost 765 km
So for only peteil u have to leave motorway and while process took 20 mi then again enter on the same interchange

Just travelling from lahore to karachi,exitted from multan to get fuel,pump is just around the interchange took only 10 mins for complete process

There is one PSO pump with Waseb Restaurant at Shams Tabrez Interchange, they accept only PSO card....

M5 just opened two weeks before and during this time almost 10 accidents happened leading to deaths

I think we should reconsider before traveling via M5 better choice may be M5

Basically issue is over speeding

I left on monday night 9pm from laore and refilled from multan interchange,pump is just around the inter change reached net morning 9 am had some work did that and left back at 9pm and reached lahore at 9am next day,filled from karachi went till sukkur and rhen took the risk of going till the second service area that comes after multan where fuel is availible and the car easily reached there,its around 600km from sukkur inter change,i had four cells still remaining when i reached there could have done till lahore aswell car is 2009 civic
Also multan sukker is very beautiful and peace full as it is not being used much,toll is 670 from multan to sukkur and 160 from abdul hakeem to multan and 390 from lahore to abdul hakeem
And also if u are coming from karachi side the petrol pump whivh offers pso card is just opposite the road that turns to motorway,and other cards can be used at two pumps side by side one is total,its just 1 km after that pso pump on pso side on natinal highway

@ashbal solo drive taking risk is fine. please do not attempt with passengers onboard.
The IG Mototways AD Khawaja is highly skeptical of opening the track with absence of support infrastructure. He has raised concerned with Ministry but GADHA MINISTER (Pappu Bacha Saeed) threw away the suggestions.

As per patrol squad in past 15 days they have received over 100 emergency calls for help. & 15+ people have died (because the fencing is missing at points) and local villagers consider the motorway as cricket football field.

let us spread message of awareness across the networks

Multan Sukkur Motorway does not have support facilities and high risk of accidents after sunset

I was solo but i took the risk as i knew i would cross multan easily and services are availible after that,also on multan sukkur patch there is patrolling police availible every 40 kms,maybe it wasnt earlier

yes thats why reconsider it between M5 and N5

In my opinion, if one can drive with sanity and remain within allowed speed limits (120 km/h), there are lesser chances of being not able to handle any eventuality. However, if you cannot resist the temptation of being Fast and Furious looking at the open road with no one watching, you better not choose to take the risk of using M5.

At the end it all boils down to you as to how you handle the situation and not get carried away with emotions.

Sir, the data perhaps is not complete enough to draw a meaningful / useful outcome. If it was known as to what was the speed of the cars at the time of accident and what actually caused these accidents, it would be of some worth to draw some conclusions.

Even on National Highway (NH) accidents occur and quite frequently as well. Also, there are no fences on NH and we do encounter people involved in over speeding. Therefore, perhaps, the root cause of most of these accidents is over speeding / reckless driving than anything else.

No the cause i observed and it must be this is thqt people fell asleep as most of the people using this road are coming from karachi or lahore and must be tired and sleepy from the journey they have already done,its literally a straight road with hardly any curves,I did see few dead dogs on the road but when a dog comes dont try to dodge it simple

If this is the case, then even having fences and service areas available on complete M5 would have made no difference!

it mean it's risky to go without night stay from karachi to lahore via M5 then M3 to lahore...........

better to have night stay at saidiqbad, RYK, Bhawal pur ect..

Took M5 from Ghotki to Sukkur just to experience the newly inaugurated motorway. Must say I am impressed with the quality of work done, I live in Hyderabad and frequently use M9 and no way that motorway is even remotely close to M5 in terms of quality. The services areas are not yet functional. Fencing was there all the way from Ghotki to Sukkur, dont know about other places yet. It is completely safe if you drive with in speed limits and saves a lot of time, and saves your cars suspension as well since N5 is a complete mess at a lot of places.

TBH, M9 is just a joke. Expressway of Punjab are way better than M9

Another thing i noticed is when you entre motorway from lahore they are deducting rs30 on M tag and when exit since new/small interchanges do not have Mtag they take money manually.

So basically enter from lahore rs30 charged and exit at shorkot 490 cash is charged.
Is it correct or does one suspect foul play?

Total toll is 30+490 or 30 is being over charged

net total is further charged either automatically at tag facility or manually.
