My 2zz-ge Vitz sleeper

Hi Everyone,

In October 2014 I got a 2ZZ-GE VVTL-i(1.8L with 187hp) swap done on my 1.0L 1KR JDM Vitz. Never got the time to post the pics and details but finally here they are. Also this is up for sale!!
The setup:

1) 2zz with C60 6-speed manual.

2) JDM M/T ECU

3) 2.5" Shortram intake with K&N filer.

3) 2.25" straight pipe exhaust. (later a turbo muffler was installed)

4) Bigger radiator with two fans.

5) Tein fully adjustable coil-overs

6) Lenso LS-GT ultra light weight wheels.

The engine sits on the original mounting areas with slight mods done to the mounts themselves. A new mount was also added to the front of the engine. All this was done without making any permanent changes to the vehicle frame.

Thank you. With AC I get around 8km/l. But the consumption depends alot on the way i drive. Also since I'm using a 2.5" intake which is small for a 2ZZ-GE my engine is running rich thus consuming more fuel.

Note: This video was made before we had all the electronics sorted out with two people + Driver in the car and the car was running a bit rough. But still managed to get between 7-8 secs.

Wow, a better launch and it'll smoke civic turbo and a3 turbo. Wow. But is it stable? I mean what about traction?

Bro anyone who owns a Vitz knows that its a very stable car for its size and I have never had any issues at high speeds. But traction during launch isnt so good and if the clutch-accelerator timing isn't spot on then a launch can easily turn into a burnout

Bro I could write a book about all the lessons I learned but here are some pointers will help everyone:

-Get the job done by a mechanic who is trustworthy and capable. Give your own feed back on every step of the way. There is no need going to an over priced 'performance' shop. These shops will rip you off and you won't get the quality of work that you wanted. In any case TRUST NO ONE!

-Fitting a 2zz in a Vitz is not as difficult as one expects. and since parts are so cheap in Pakistan the mechanical aspects of the project arent much of an issue.

-Electronics are a bit of an issue here. All modern cars would have compatibility issues with older generations of engines. The power steering was having issues and the engine temperature lights were going crazy at times. Thats why we had to use two ECU's for the project. One 1NZ-FE ECU for a Vitz and one M/T 2ZZ-GE ECU.

-AC fitting should be considered prior to getting the swap. AC to Host Car to Engine compatibility issues do arise. We couldnt get the ECU to turn off the compressor at higher RPM's. That's why the AC has to stay off while revving the car.

-Get an LSD if available. It is very difficult putting so much power down at once without LSD and that's why 0-100 times suffer. LSD will also help with the inevitable torque steer in FWD cars.

A much easier swap would be to put a 2ZZ in a 1ZZ Altis. The Altis only needs two extra wires to wire a 2ZZ and as far as i know only one of the engine mounts needs to be modified. So very easy!

-Other good options are 2000 and older Corollas.

Bro I don't have a exact figure since I stopped keeping track at one point but here is the rough cost:

-Engine + Fitting + Mechanical cost: 170k
-Electrician+ wiring etc: 15k
-Exhaust: 15k
-Misc costs: 20k

Aoa...talking about this particular engine...do u know which car it came out from..cause they all produce different powers..when stock.

Secondly...what can you say about the engine health...oh is this the one with Lsd? How is the shifter like.

Do you recommend it for a daily driving...?

Braking.? Engine balance? Etc

-As far as I know(i might be wrong) its from a Celica JDM and with the JDM ECU it produces 187hp.(This was determined by the throttle body position, fuel injectors size and engine lock out RPM)

-Engine has never given me any problem and does not reduce oil between oil changes so I guess its in OKAY condition. I bought it Kabli and never has been opened. Gear is non-LSD. Shifter is very crisp(my personal preference) but it can easily be made softer.

-I have actually been using it as a daily drive for the past 1.5 years

-The car has excellent braking even with stock brakes...I wouldn't change anything about it.

-Not sure what you mean by engine balance.
