I saw your thread mate, and although the car was quite dirty, I liked the color. If I am not wrong, it was Monaco Blue ?
I noticed the discussion at the bottom of the thread mostly comparing the Merc E300-E350 range with the 530D. I have experience of the 2011 E350 for a few months, from almost new ie 5000 miles.
I dont believe the Merc matches the Bimmer in driving pleasure. The Merc was a slow boat off the start line. And I always felt under powered. Even when I pushed it, the acceleration was very gradual and never came with a push, that you expect. As for the Bimmers, the lower end torque of diesels is just amazing.
Now I have a petrol 3.0 and I feel the best driving experience is above 3000 rpm, and I really enjoy keeping the shift in Sports mode, and try and maintain a high rpm to feel that surge in power and acceleration.
The Merc was a perfect car for folks, who need a plush ride with zero road feedback, as it really excels at it. While Bimmers are drivers cars, atleast until late 2000's. You get the road feel, full steering control, beautiful engine notes and excellent performance. I am still looking for a E60 M5 in good condition, so perhaps one day, I will update this thread :P:P:P InshaAllah!
