My car's brakes do everything except stopping it

AoA! i am facing some problem with my car brakes. they were very good when the car was new(just pressed a bit of the paddle & the car stopped)but now i really have to put all power i have got to get a good braking. i went a to a mechanic, the brake pads were fine.however he SERVICED them(just a bit of cleaning with sand-paper)but all in vain. i asked him about the brake booster but he said it should be f9 as the car is not so old. btw the car is alto 05 with 13'' rims and yoko tyres.PLS give suggestions\solutions asap.

Alto has problems ! Swap the brake boostr with Cultus' Brake Booster! Problem Solved !

maybe wrong material brakes pads,, buy quality pads and rear brake leather

First of all
check if both front and back tyres behave alike i.e. Apply full brakes and check the marks on the roads.
If only two marks are present (front wheels) then your rear brake drums needs work. Which includes sandpaper buffing to tooling of the drum surface.

The rear drum is very common case with ALTO.

If this is not the case, then get master cylinder checked and serviced.

Still doesn't works, then turn to @kiani's solution.

BE CAREFULL.
There are many ALTOs accidented just because of this rear drum fault including mine. And i need it to get serviced every month for 3 months now.
BTW ALTO manual also says to get these inspected/service every 5000 Kms

the same prob i face with my 05 cultus.
when i went to the show room the showed me the break pad.
they where finish just 10,000km.
the orignal where 3.500Rs
the local where 500rs
so i put the local one coz the orginal where to expensive.
now the breaking is ok but not tht much.

the pads r original. car has done just 25k

it wont jam tyres even if had put a 1000kg on the brake pad.

i also thought that the drum brakes needed adjustment but mechanic told me that it has auto adjust. pads r absolute fine.

Your serve unit is out of order.

Your master cylinder and hydraulic piping needs overhauling.

get Xli brakes...even if ure stopped, flooring the brake pedal will let u do 0-100 in less than a sec. Moreover,no additional components will be required, just swap the gas pedal for the brakes....

Brakes prblm is common in all pk made i think chnging stock brakes like tyres may rssolve

Alto has this problem right from the factory.

And it lies in the Brake Master Cylinder ! It doesnt provide enough vaccum to handle braking.

The only way you can get better braking performance is to Swap the Master Cylinder with one from the Cultus. A new one costs around 4k (not confirmed, confirm kar lo frm spare parts shop) and used ones are cheaper. And pay 500 to the mechanic for installation.

I think ur pads have become hard over time (lost their heat dicipating quality). This is normal. Simply buy the orig from suzuki. And if u find them expensive go for Somitomo.

brake pads become hard due to various factors over a period of time. e.g absorbing oil during service(which most service stations use).no amount of sandpapering will bring it back to orignal condition.just get good pads (with silver and brass in it)and u r braking should be fine
