First of all no service provider is required to run or use a GPS. All you need is maps and the GPS device gets positioning from global positioning satellites. About rockmars, check this thread.

Thanx for the reply. I already tht thread before posting a query here. What i understood was that Rockmars does not provide GPS device alongwith its 2-Din systems. One needs a GPS receiver like on the following link to be able to use maps on rockmars.

Garmin GVN53 is prohibitively too expensive at 600 dollars. I have no experience of in-dash navigation system. Could not check Paknav sight because of this message.

@Xplore, bhai it is absolutely free. If you have a gps phone like Nokia N95 or 97 or a Blackberry with built in GPS they can also have the signals from satellites free.

on your device's browser point to m.google.com and install google maps, rest is plug and play and guided. Beware data charges apply if you do not have unlimited data use or bundle internet package with your plan, use it sparingly.

Thanks. don't know where suction cups are available. May be you can find them online.

pkmaps installation is just copy paste. Download latest PK Maps from here.

If you connect your Garmin with a computer you will find GMAPSUPP.IMG file in Garmin folder. This is the default map which usually come preloaded. Now rename his file as GMAPSUPP.im_ and copy the dowloaded GMASUPP.IMG to Garmin folder (on gps) and select PKmaps from GPS map settings. It is that simple and I hope that you will not have any difficulty in installing them.

These are good maps to start navigation, but have limited cities to navigate to. A group should work to enlarge the scope of GPS maps with detail POIs of Pakistan.
