So the third expense came in the visit to INH, i had intended for wheel balancing to be done as new tyres were installed and after going thru service history saw that break fluid had never been changed and it should preferably be changed every two years so had that performed as well, also thought to have a general checkup while car is on the lift and it was my first visit to INH and was curios about how they go about their business and whats the difference between going to a 3s dealership and them. by the way Shahnawaz was out of question as one of the retracting mirrors on my car wasn't working and they wouldn't change the motor but the whole mirror, and neither would they quote prices or an information on the phone neither do they allow you to be with the car when it goes in side for service, so i had cut shanawaz off the book in the first place regardless of what hey charge anyway.
so INH is situated on Baher shah road near airport, the entrance to that road is like a entrance to the village, theres actually no road but a gravel unpaved surface full of craters and bumps, i wonder if they have it for suspension testing or something, i went about it at 5-10km/h with motorcycles laughing as they passed, but frankly with a low slung car i wane taking any risks, by the way porshce centre is the neighbour of INH and i wonder how on earth a porsche part from Cayenne obviously is going to get down that road, the entrance to INH compound is unmarked no where does it say INH, we actually missed it and had to call them and ask about it,
its in a enclave align with porsche centre, we stopped the car before the entrance to working area where a guy noted what worked i wanted to be done and then set about taking pictures of the whole car, i mean taking pictures is one thing he spent a good 7-8 mins just taking pictures from every scratch on exterior to every cubby hold every water bottle, every light on interior, apparently they have had a few run ins with some owners about stuff disappearing.
took the car inside, they changed the brake fluid to MB dot 4 plus, probably one the ultra expensive brake fluids but thats what mercdes recommends so i though ill just go with it rather than regular dot 4 also its probably the same thing just little low viscosity and it was green in colour, they did a quick and efficient job of bleeding and took extra care too as it was a underserviced system, they also spent good time on getting wheel balancing right, and also did wheel alignment,
Meanwhile the motor for the one folding mirror that was not working was costing 14000Rs the driver side worked fine, i still went ahead and asked them to get it but its been a month now they still have found a new motor so hmmm sometimes finding spares can a bit of a issue and they ar enot exactly cheap anyway, same case with the springs in the trunk mechanism, the trunk would lift all the way open like it does on other mercedes car and the springs were found to be old and lost tension even adjust them didn't work they would have to be replaced, INH quoted 20,000rs for a pair of springs!,
seriously 20, 000 for two springs? you can get springs of the suspension in this price of a local car:P so i left that
they also checked all the fluids etc they were fine, i don't understand why when mercedes provides the filler tube of the transmission doesnt proved a dipstick with it, instead you have to goto a dealership who use the the long unwieldy dipstick to measure it, i mean do i really have to goto dealership just to check if my ATF level is correct??, also while INH guys were efficient they like every one else in paksitan also pull fast ones, i was sitting inside the car retrieving something when suddenly this guy comes and in a second dumps tap water in the coolant reservoir even though it was already at correct level despite me shouting stop stop!, i was so furious called the manager and argued a lot how can they use tap water in a coolant reservoir without permission that too overfilling it, after a while he agreed with me and i had them removed the excess with a syringe,
also some of INH procedures like on wheel tightening are just wrong and appalling, nevertheless work got done and i made sure it was done the right way. so its not like you can leave the cars with them and sit in the AC room thinking alls gonna be well, keep a lookout just like you would at any other dealership,
while inspecting car form underneath they found a bush in transmission linkage gone, which they replaced and it made the gear shift lever feel much more precise and better now before there was a clunk feeling going into D, they also found the RHS control arm to have excessive play and both front shocks in their words were leaking and had 50% life rest,
total bill for the current work was around 6000rs, not bad and in the test drive alignment and wheel balancing were all really good, the estimate for the suspension work they pointed out was the expected 139,000rs. Many friends etc had said if you goto INH or shahnawaz they always give you a bill of 120,000 the first time:P, i would first ask here on pakwheels and also research a lot before i got some of the work done which i thought necessary, and in any case the car still drove perfectly without any noises and even on that rough and broken road i coudnt tell at all of any problems with suspension even after looking out for symptoms so it wasn't any emergency.
i didn't take many pictures this time, later on my second visit which i did soon i would give you more pics and a good review of INH as well as some observations after having a chat with the owner of the place, these were just first impressions and i was concentrating on my car and work was done in around 1hr 30min, later i would stay there for long so more description,
