SX4 engine capacity is 1600cc in a DOHC VVT BS-IV(Euro5 emissions compliance) block with gobs of torque in stock configuration which makes it a fun to drive car and why cops love it.
The new Swift has an upgraded K-series petrol engine used worldwide of 1200cc capacity producing 87bhp/114Nm of torque which is why the engine is a pleasure to drive. It's all about torque. No Liana obsolete stuff in this market.
The Corolla is associated with rental car fleets in the Indian market and considering the choices one has doesn't sell well enough with private buyers. When you can get a Jetta for the same money as an Altis for example, why bother buying one?. Toyota is seeing a resurgence in this market with it's compact cars catering to the middle class buyer segment which is a wise move by the company. The Corolla, SX4 et al, belong in the same class of cars by segment.
The SX4 is designed by Giorgetto Giuigiaro's ItalDesign studio.
