My new old Subaru Legacy Twin Turbo

Salaam Guys,

My old car 'Basanti' had to be striped for parts as the mechanic i was using turned out to be a chor and also my wife damaged two doors by reversing into them.

Here is Basanti.

Who has been replaced with this guy (yet to name)

Note silly bronze bits and daft bronze scoop on bonnet.

As soon as i got the car home. I removed front and rear seats then promptly replaced them with my old GTB seats and front Impreza seats. I just didn't get on with the whole suede trimmings.

Then satin black wipers, spray the bonnet vent and grill black and then finally replace any missing interior bits of trim fittings.

It was raining pretty bad all day, old Legacy shell was turned into a spray booth, most bronze bits had been repainted satin black leaving the roof rails. Oh and the 'swoosh' motorised boost gauge has been ripped out, all missing trim bits have been replaced.

Beautiful Subaru you have. I had s 2004 VW Passat Station wagon 4 motion.. Loved it till the time she hit 149K and started giving trouble and then sold it.

station wagons.. The state cars in UK I believe are getting popular here in US.. VW & Subaru are major players while BMW, mercedes and to some extent Audi's.. Most of the people here don't see a utility of the vehicle and prefer to go for a SUV..

Yes, i like estates (UK wagons are called 'estates'). Very practical and understated.

I have plans for this one however rather than outright power i'm going for slight power and economy so a gas conversion is on the cards. Gas for economy and Petrol for nearly 300bhp worth of playtime.

The JDM Twin Turbo Legacy is all wheel drive with a lsd at the rear and open diff at the front. Corners like it's on rails.

Indeed, no drifting here. I suppose if one tries hard enough however it is a little cruel on the mechanicals.

The passat I had was one good car on snow.. Wonderful traction.. Subaru sales increased many times in last few years being AWD, especially in North East including NY.

It is a very agricultural awd system too. No fancy electronics just old fashioned mechanical diffs that work

Too expensive.

Too expensive to tax, emmisions are high, as the Yen is strong against the pound the import costs are high too. Subaru can't shift enough stock to justify them selling over here.

Lexus, BMW, Mercedes, etc are surviving fine as they are strong marques with a pedigree. Most popular models are diesel engine models like the 520d, 530d and 535d.

We are paying just a touch over 2 dollars per litre at the moment. That's nearly 9.5 US Dollars per gallon.

Hence why small engined cars are more popular here in the UK along with Diesels. A 2.5 litre engine is considered a big engine (by non car fanatics).

No, we do have the 2L TDi's as well as smaller engine TDi's as they are cheap to run, tax, insure, etc.

If u have a good credit brand new cars u can get zero apr. Audi mercedes Lexus all around 1.9%.

We do have diesel BMW X5 35d and 335d. Mercedes also has a few diesel models and Porsche Cayenne diesel is on its way here.

BTW, subaru legacy's are great especially the GT version which was sadly dropped for the current generation.
