As a weather transition is in process and still no fans being used + I already mentioned that this Genset will only be used as a backUp when everything fails and its too hot to bear...............Still I have managed to use it for 8 Hours since the last fuel topup. Due to the fact that it has not much load on it now (not more than 30% of the generators capacity). The needle on the fuel guage has moved hardly a quarter to a cm and I can still see the fuel with naked eye from the refill hole.
Therefore, I cant exactly comment untill I topup it again and calculate it properly. However, If you guys insist, I can only give you a rough estimate what seems to be through naked eye ........... 3 to 5 L of Diesel Consumed in 7 hours and 47 minutes of running on 30 % load. Which is pretty good I guess

This calculates like about 13-14Rs/Unit which is what is expected commercially as well.

Can you please guide me in detail how to calculate per unit cost? I am confused about it rather don't know the exact way of doing it.

Tausif it is so simple,
Price of Fuel/(8hrs@30%load) remember 1unit=1kwhr. If you use 1000watts for an hour then it must consume 1unit. But WAPDA dandi marti ha meter mein...

If you are sensitive about this issue do install a meter in the generator circuit and overtime calculate using the fuel consumed. (You could also check the accuracy of the meter by taking the following reading. Use an ammeter and a voltmeter to calculate VAs.)

Please review the digital controller pics that I posted. It has a lot of measurements including the total kwhr or total watts consumed against even the total produced by the genset. This controller is provided by deep sea electronics which are the brand leaders in this stuff. You can Google it or see the pictures I posted of all the options. I can even attach my laptop via simple USB to monitor various functions (electric and engine related). They even release its firmware updates. I have yet to explore this segment of this wonderful machine.
Coming to the point, WAPDA is what confuses me. We have digital meters installed by WAPDA but I guess the calculation is not as simple as you explained.......there are many other things that are accounted for the bill we get.........otherwise considering 1000 watts in an hour ............ Bills should be in a fairly reasonable range. My last month bill was 11000 which I am unable to explain. Anyways, thanks for explaining, I wonder what WAPDA has programmed into these digital meters though I seriously doubt their capabilities to do so............Lolz.

This is the ground reality about kwhr, there are various taxes on Top and ofcourse you have to pay the bills for Presidential Palace and all its associates Ali Baba and 40 Chores. These are incorporated into consumers using confusing/misleading methods. The digital stuff on the board is mainly for circuit switching, There is some sort of microprocessor there as well . You can read the manual about how the no load to full load speed is controlled and how feedback loop is controlled. Using external Watt hour meter available in market is beneficial as you could also check the data/figure provided by your Genset over a period of time. I guess the digital ones would only be 2-4k? Lister petter offered me 40KVA. Price is ok but they are charging a lot of money for installation and transportation that i will negotiate with them.

Right now their isnt much difference of price betweenx 40 KVA and 60KVA though i am thinking of 60 KVA but than I am worried about fuel consumption of 60KVA. Right now our monthly diesel cost is around 50 Thousand and with 40 KVA i am expecting this to Jump to 1 Lac+ .

Model No they offered me is Gw4. THis is a Diesel engine model but thats what they have written on the offer letter.

60 KVA Comes with Gw4T its a turbocharged version of this engine but consumption on full load is around 15L/H which is a looot :p.

One more thing I wanted to ask you hows the ATS Pannel they gave you? I am using ATS but its an old and kind of local made though working fine but switching sound is loud.

Gw is the gamma series engine I guess. They're really good. Don't go on the fuel consumption that is quoted on their brochures because that is written on the safe side and almost 2 to 3 times more than the actual consumption. Every good company does that to avoid law suits. Don't go for turbo charged unless you have some heavy duty 3 phase motors or central air conditioning units. Its 60 kva and turbo charged......of course it will consume more diesel. It always seems tempting to go for bigger but diesel tou apni pocket say dalna hai na!

I asked the tech who installed this system about the complaint ratio in ATS and he said that the local one has complaints as they use relays and stuff. I got imported ATS which has almost no complaints. Imported doesn't mean that its imported.......it means that the circuit board, contractors and wiring scheme etc has been used as per international standards and specifications. You will understand what i mean once you see it for yourself. Anyways its good. The more bigger generator you'll get, the more sound ATS will make because it will have a bigger / more amp rated contractor which actually rotates and this rotation makes sound. It is magnetically energized by electric current.

The more interesting thing in their genset is the digital controller by deep sea. It has a hell of options and you'll enjoy playing it around.

I've this GenSet 3245 kva. Synchronous. General Motors GenSet. 1969. runs on Mazut fuel (cheap power generation). It was installed as backup at an industrial facility but never used. only test runs. has 1500 hours on it. new PLC and air start system. currently being used for couple of hours a day. Unit has approx 12,000 gallon fuel tank. Anyone wants to buy this unit, let me know.

Oh yes mine ATS is made with relays and all but imported good ones. It gives some issue like once a year as some relay blows off :).

My requirment is around 10 AirConditioners running all the time plus around 30 Laptops / Fridge / Copier / Printer / Oven / around 25 Tube Lights / 12 Fan / One LCD.

So i am still not sure 40KVA will be enough Lister petter suggested 60 KVA.

Also spoke with FG Wilson they will also give me quote tom.

I think you should calculate the load yourself instead of relying on companies. Its not difficult. If you need help on that, plz let me know. And keep in mind the genset should be 20% more capacity than your full load (80% max load on genset).
