38000 Watts makes about 47500 VA or 47.5 Kva. add 20% in it which is 9.5Kva.
47.5+9.5= 57Kva.
You need 57 Kva Genset so that when you put all the load (38000 Watt) it will be 80% of the total capacity of genset (recomended).
I guess 60 Kva is fine than as quoted by Pana people.

Yes this is a local/desi ATS but works pretty well except for relay and timers blow outs once or twice a year. This is nothing compared to what they have installed at my place. You can see it in the pictures. The imported ATS is really good quality stuff. I have the same principle and quality based ATS on my small honda genset which is for sale and has given me 4 years of good service.

We have decided for 40 KVA one hmm cant run 60KVA Diesel the running cost will be too much

But 40 Kva doesn't fulfil your requirements as per my calculations. Either you have to cut down a few AC's from Genset or you'll burn it :o

Dun worry these dun burn this easily We learned this by running our 13.5KVA and most of the time all ac turn on hehe only thing it does it cries cries and light flacutate than some one realises and power's off all a/c and it starts to work again.

duty was around 15% last time I checked...then taxes etc..

so it could be urs in karachi for around rs.25m....thats cheaper than new chinese gensets in similar capacity and efficiency around 30-40% depending on quality...
now can u post its efficiency and other specs as well?

Yes, its a lot cheaper. Similar CAT USA 2012 that runs on low quality mazut fuel is US$ 1.95 million.

Wow the price is tempting as well as its specs. I personally think that it would serve a good purpose for some medium sized residential colony or even some set of apartment in karachi..........though parts and proper technitions will be a problem here. GE is a very reliable brand.

Read a statement from IESCO today in the local newspaper...........Horrible 12 to 18 hours load shedding this summer even in twin cities. They say a lot of power plants are out of order.
Also read a few days back that Faisalabad and sourronding area are having more than 20 hours load shedding even in this weather. Can anyone confirm?

Let's see what the new elected govt will do..............if it ever gets elected that is........

As a weather transition is in process and still no fans being used + I already mentioned that this Genset will only be used as a backUp when everything fails and its too hot to bear...............Still I have managed to use it for 8 Hours since the last fuel topup. Due to the fact that it has not much load on it now (not more than 30% of the generators capacity). The needle on the fuel guage has moved hardly a quarter to a cm and I can still see the fuel with naked eye from the refill hole.
Therefore, I cant exactly comment untill I topup it again and calculate it properly. However, If you guys insist, I can only give you a rough estimate what seems to be through naked eye ........... 3 to 5 L of Diesel Consumed in 7 hours and 47 minutes of running on 30 % load. Which is pretty good I guess

with sorry.. your estimate is wrong abt the consumption.. do re-check.

No problem. Bro, I already mentioned that I cant exactly comment until I topup again and calculate it properly. While your reservation might be correct but let me tell you that according to NADRA Genset Tech from whom I inquired about its fuel effciency (before purchasing), he quoted me a 1.5 L to 2 L consumption of thier 40 KVA genset at 60 % load.
I am not justifying it, but Lister Petter engines are famous for thier fuel efficiency. You can search international Genset forums for that. Moreover, there is no load on it now a days. The real figures will come out once the summer arrives and real loadsheeding starts. Will put 3 AC's load and misc stuff then quote the exact figure. Haven't got a chance to use it or abuse it properly

No matter what other members are commenting about price, alternative gen-sets bla bla bla BS !
You purchased a good reliable generator, amount spend very wisely ..... Reliability is there which is no way in Chinese gensets, i have experience with original JD and some other Chinese and Korean brands. they are PIA even in 1st week of usage .... I witness locally old junk car engines with good alternator coupling are way better then these Chinese and Koreans.

And your concern of comforting your house / family is most important and priceless

You thread is very informative, and really good as it give a very good review of gensets. Are you able to comment the best and most hassle free option one could have for running one 1 ton ac a bit more? I just want a good nights sleep, and don't mind lights as UPS can run that. However, Chinese generators are a hassle, so I want a hassle free option. You comments would be welcome.
