By the grace of Almighty Allah, I have acquired a 1995 Toyota Prado KZJ78 with a 1KZ Engine. Those who know me are aware I have had two SUVs in the recent past: A Gen 2 Pajero and a Gen 1 Pajero, both with 4D56 engines. This time I decided to try Toyota with the legendary 1KZ engine. Both my previous SUVs were quite decent and I certainly achieved a lot in terms of tours and off-road adventures, but both were under-powered. Hence I chose this vehicle. The other option was a 4M40 powered Gen 2 but I couldn't find a decent one. I did not want to build another Pajero because of decreasing availability of both parts and skilled labour. Now that I have purchased this vehicle, let's stick to this. First of all the PROS1) The body and exterior are immaculate2) Engine is in top nick. The moment I pressed accelerator, I became aware of the huge difference between 4D56 and 1KZ. It has amazing power and "Shoot".3) Unlike my previous SUVs this one is with AUTO Transmission. The shifting and response to throttle are mind blowing. It felt like driving a petrol powered car.4) It comes with 5 Alloys from an LC80 which are my favourite. I don't like the OEM ones much. So this is a plus.5) It has GT SAVERO AT's with plenty of life. I think I will stick with these for the time being.CONS:1) Interior is not too clean, rather I would say the carpet is quite shabby, the seats are unclean. Ceiling lining is okay.2) Dash board is also not too clean and has some worn out marks.3) There is some unwanted play in the front suspension and steering. I need to look into it first thing. Need guidance from friends in Lahore for suspension work in particular.4) Back lights are not in good condition. Will either replace with decent after market ones. HELP needed in sourcing. Here are some initial shots as I just brought her home last night from far far away
will share detailed pictures in due course.
