if u need it for indoor buy tamron it would be more useful @madhouse12 bro told me this thing way back but bought a 50mm 1.8g and after buying a tamron i realized it that he was v right tamron is practically much more useful then my 50mm i just put on my 50mm when i need to hve some portraits etc but with tamron i can almost do all the things even portraits too so my 2 cents tamron,let a senior member come and comment iam a newbie like u too

ok i need a suggestion too.,, my budget is somewhere around 30k, which lens should i opt for
i have these suggestions in mind,
nikon 50mm 1.8g or 35mm 1.8g or tamron 17-50mm f2.8g non vc

If you just have the kit lens with a beginner level body, I would recommend either of 2 options
1. Raise the budget a bit, sell kit lens (18-55) and get the 18-105 lens along with a 50mm f/1.8G
2. Sell this kit lens and grab the tamron 18-55 f/2.8 Bilal just got. Its a pretty good lens. No idea about performance till I use it myself...

1 & 2 are equally good IMO

If you are in portraits then get 50mm and if you are in photography of pretty much everything then get the 35mm.

I remember takin pix from my friend's 60D with a 50mm and I had to stick my bum to the farthest wall from the subject as the 'zoom' was too much.
So I now know which lenses do i want; an 18-105 n a 50mm
Next question: whats 50mm 1.8 n 1.4? And which variant would be better?

bro actually iam building my lens gear v slowly keeping in mind my requirements,iam basically using tamron as an overall walk around lens and 50mm for portraits so i might not sell it right now in future if i thought of selling it will contact u bro and keep 1 thing in mind buy thongs to ur requirements not just create a bundle of lenses that u wont use

yes it does, hence full frame
60D is crop sensor so yep...u were grinding against the wall
yes great lens choices
1.8 and 1.4 relates to the aperture value or its size. The smaller the aperture the better bokeh (background blur) u get. It relates to the depth of field. It gets narrower with a smaller number leading to a more crisp picture
in 50mm f1.4 is insanely priced, so I would recommend to leave the 1.4 and get the f1.8G

thank you, for your great advice, but what i have right now is 18-55mm and 55-200mm , i needed this 200mm zoom, most of the time i have 55-200mm on my camera, coz you can capture different moments out side, 18-55mm is just too short for outside, especially in our society where people don't like their pics be taken,
but with these both lenses they are not good contenders for the indoor, where i end up using on flash which sucks, so i though i would get the 1.8g lens, what i also want the 50mm lens for is that I will be able to create bokeh indoors, so i will be able to take indoor portraits without the background interfering too much ...

Yes thats true. It costs more than 50k
16k is a good price but try to make him come down as it retailed for as low as 19k about a year ago.
Well to check it go through the following procedure

• inspect externally to check for scuffs and marks
• check the glass and see if it has any scratches. don't buy if it has even a single one
• check for areas that tell if the lens was opened/ repaired (rare but for your own satisfaction)
• then check the contacts (golden points) that connect to the body..how do they look. Roughed upon or disfigured is a big NO
• mount it on body and take pics from the largest aperture f1.8 to smallest aperture f16 or f32 im assuming. Check the pictures for sharpness
• take bokeh shots and see how fast it focuses...and remember this prime lens are damn fast and this one should be fast too. its insanely faster than the 18-55. (keep the focus on A/M and not just M)
• take pics of a while clean wall or solid color and see the picture if it comes out all white or clear and will tell if any area is affected due to lens's glass being damaged or anything
• take many shots and then take it off and hold the lens up to the eye. keep the part of the lens which goes in the camera towards the eye and other towards the subject and there would be a lever near the contacts. try moving it and the aperture blades inside will move. see if all the blades are in perfect nick.

that is all I could think off, rest you can find on the internet but to me...this would be enough
ask for details like when he bought it and see if its in warranty... rest if it clears ALL of the above criteria .. u're good to go

I would have never known this if it weren't for you m copying your text in my mobile will get guidance from it so I don't forget. and will be bringing a white printer paper with ma selves to use it as a white background to check lens.
And that's the lowest he will go on price, new one retails for 22-23k so i think this is a good price if it has no issues...

see for spots on the white image from the chartpaper...spots mean either of 2 things...either the mirror in the body needs cleaning or the lens's glass has something on it inside (if not visible from outside). the first point about mirror in the body can be eliminated by checking via using the kit lens on the same chartpaper. If it still gives the same spot at the same area means the prime lens is perfect and your body's mirror required cleaning.
btw be careful about the mirror cleaning of the body, its a pretty sophisticated procedure.

I would suggest get a new one with the Nikon scheme going on now a days. You will get warranty along with peace of mind What else do you want
