Need Advise. Skardu by road from Karachi

We three friends are planning to visit Skardu by road from Karachi after 15 September 2019. i would request advise with reference to route, hotels, weather conditions in skardu and nearby areas, places to visit, etc.

Second option we may opt is by train from karachi to Islamabad and then take services of tour operators. You may suggest any one if you know.
