AoA — First time car owner and I've owned this car for about an year now and have decided to change its transmission oil — as I don't know (or trust) how the previous owner has taken care of it (i.e what type of oil — how many miles are on it etc). I've looked this up a bit before posting here — so I have some questions.
- Where can I get authentic "Toyota Genuine CVT Fluid TC" (as per owner's manual) in Peshawar and how can I verify that it's real? Is there some barcode that I can scan via an app? I've come across a post here that said that there's a seal at the back of the can to indicate that it's authentic Toyota CVT Fluid. Is that the only thing I need to look out for?
2. There's an FE variant of Toyota CVT Fluid but I checked the bolt on the side of the transmission and it has "TC" engraved on it. The reason I'm mentioning this is because the engine in my car has been changed from 1KR-FE (1000 cc) to 1NR-FE (1300 cc) by the previous owner — but I'm unable to contact him now. From what I've found on Google — on 1NR-FE engines — the transmission is K411 instead of K410. My question is — was the transmission also changed (from K410 to K411)? Is there a way to identify which transmission my car currently has in it? I'm asking so I can confirm that "Toyota Genuine CVT Fluid TC" is the right transmission oil for my car and also because it's good to know in general.
3. Where do I get it changed in Peshawar? Who do you guys recommend that can do it competently? Toyota Khyber Motors on Ring Road? What's the labor price estimate?
4. How much oil do I need? The owner's manual says 6.5 L but everywhere else I've read that it requires less than 4L. I'm going for a (partial) drain and not a full flush of the old oil where you need 12-20 L in total (from what I've read on here). And also — maybe there's a leak in my transmission — so the amount varies in my case but I've not noticed any sort of oil leak in my garage.
5. Do I need to change the transmission oil filter (and if I do — where do I buy a genuine / good enough one)? Or will that only need to be cleaned?
6. I've watched a couple of videos and people have mentioned that the rubber "seal" around the metal drain pan might need to be changed. I saw one where there wasn't one in the first place — so the mechanic used some sort of silicone adhesive instead. Even saw one where adhesive was used over the rubber seal. Also — there's a ring shaped gasket inside the main hole — that's visible when you remove the metal filter (in the image below). Regarding these things — what do I need to watch out for? Do they need to be replaced and if so — where can I get original / good enough ones from?
7. (Just came across this while typing) According to this post — the bolt that has "TC" engraved on it is not the oil filler port. But every desi / western video I came across — that is the port that was used to fill up transmission oil. His pictures are really low res so I cannot make out the exact place that he's pointing to. If he's right — can you guys help me identify the actual oil filler port that's supposed to be used?
8. Do I need to (or ask the mechanic to) measure the amound of the oil that comes out? Or is that unnecessary because the oil will overflow by itself through that orange plastic thing (in the image below) to indicate that it's filled as needed?
9. Is it necessary to start the engine after filling the oil — in order to heat it up — so that it expands and some more of it leaks out (or some other reason)?
10. Is there something needed to be done with a scanner? Something about CVT oil pressure? Tuning / re-calibration?
Any help is appreciated. Thank you.
Edit:
I went to Khan Muhammad's auto workshop in Tehkal and there I know a paint job worker that told me that I could buy original Toyota CVT fluid in a shop called Zeeshan Autos (?) that's right next to it. So I went there and took some pics of it. Price Rs 10,500 /- for a 4L can.
I was also told that I could get the real stuff at Chaudhry Autos (Saddar / Tehkal / Ring Road) and Toyota Khyber Motors on Ring Road.
