I think the reason is our extremely hot climate. Oil's viscosity drops down at higher temperatures, which in turn means more wear and tear on the engine.

Never cheap out on engine lubrication. Buy the best oil available and change it at regular intervals.

Personally, I'd rather pay a few hundred rupees more per annum than end-up with a seized motor!

This topic is not about oil viscosity . Anyways Saudi Arabian climate is much much hoter and 5 degree Celsius dosent make a noticeable difference
ie it is ss hot as 45C over there as compared to average of less than 40C

I think in newer cars; engine and radiator maintains same temperature in summer and winter so how does that affect the oil?

Oh thank god i have someone who uses info based from more sources than Pakistan. Most here just do what the ustaad or one pakwheeler suggests . Using 20w50 oil and changing oil every 2500km.

I don't trust anyone blindly, verify facts first, I'm using 0w20 and my current drain Interval is 14-15k kms

That's not true. Coolant, intake and oil temperatures are definitely higher in the summer.

E.g. toyota even tests their cheapo dabba corolla with +50c ambient temperature as well as -25c.

Right. But the problem with Japanese heat guages is that they display the same level for a very large temperature range.
For example, on civic the coolant temp guage is at the exact same position whether the ECT is 70C or 108C. So it's impossible to accurately judge seasonal temperature variations by just looking at the guages.

Well i beileve u use non synthetic motor oil with viscosity of 20w50. Mineral oil or non synthetic oil cannot go 10,000km. If u need to go for full synthetic oils. Ignore semi synthetics they're just a ripoff

10w30 fully synthetic motor oil

Except for the taglon 5w50, toyota indus does not have any synthetic engine oil. That 10w30 petron plus is a mineral based oil.
