Dear all,
i visited Kalam on 23 March 2019. took 4 hours in local NCP car to reach Kalam from Bahrain.
To cut short, I again visited Kalam this year on the 9th - 10th of muharram. Road is 90% completed except for 4-6 places especially bridges which have not been completed. On return trip from kalam to bahrain , i reached in 1 hour flat as there was no rush of incoming cars.
However, I paid 9,000 per day for two days and this was robbery. But other hotels were asking in excess of 13000 per day .
so better not visit kalam during saturday sunday or any holiday.
also paid 6500 for visiting Mahodand lake (very nice lake) but ride takes around 3 hours. and digests all your breakfast plus lunch too even if you haven't had any lunch. Its advance digestion.
on the day that I returned to lahore, we heard there was severe flooding in Bahrain and tourists had gotten stuck over there.
Don't need to visit Kundol Lake (its opened for 4 by 4 now till the end), but it is not as beautiful as Mahodand, so Mahodand is a must visit.
Also take your own food as there have been fights over charging and bad food in Mahodand, so just take snacks or cheese jam and bread and make your own sandwiches over there. However you can buy tea which is okay over there.
Please note that the boats over there are really quite run down and also don't offer you a life jacket like as in Saif ul Malook, so be careful while taking the boat ride (1500 for full ride one end to the other and back)
