There is some method to my madness. The vehicle originally came with a 4d56 turbo which was swapped out for a 2JZGE (one for which I asked you for help in the wiring diagrams). It was quite nose-heavy and being a straight-6, it had electric cooling fans, the radiator was moved forwards, and it was bunged to the original V5MT1 gearbox (how it did not explode I have no idea).
The engine due to some mechanical and/electrical problem threw in the towel, and I was stuck with the option of either putting in another 2JZ, or going with another engine altogether. Now, I did not want it to be nose heavy as it was before, and the gearbox was starting to whine a bit. So you ask, why 1UZ?
1) Well, why not?
2) But seriously, it was a V, hence a lower CG
3) Alloy block so much lighter than the 2JZ
4) Being shorter could move the CG backwards and lose the nose-heavy feeling
5) The transmission is still the A341E auto, so torque output is lower and softer as seen by the transfer case (only 4% higher than the original 4D56T / V5MT1 combo
6) It's a less frenetic engine as compared to the 2JZ, so need less revs to move briskly
7) It's an engineering exercise where I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel as we speak
Hopefully will have some good news to share soon
