Nissan's VQ is a interesting choice..almost 300hp
Nismo built an updated version of it called S1 for a 350z with higher rev limits..
and u can always pour in some supercharged tea a stage 1 might be able to give you an extra 100hp i believe ! thats almost enough for u twice

Brother , if your live near to peshawar.. Come to peshawar , u might find a srt20det , and the mechanic for your car would be Faizullah , he is rotary and rx8 king... He is well know for his rx8 skill , almost everyday there are 5-7 rx7 and rx8 are standing in him workshop for a rotary bore and engine change .. Srt20det would be best.. If not srt20det then go for 1jz.. With tech 2 swap kit

So true. I just hate it when the poster looses steam and abandons the project. There are so many such projects on Pakwheels. If you can't do it don't start. It is better to do complete the job and then post the project.

Why not go with a accord's engine? Easy to maintain, handles trip-tonic gear as well. Btw you live in Defence right? I have passed by this car millions of times it usually is parked outside, I thought of leaving a note asking if it was for sale.

The problem I think is that such folks want to "buy" a project - when you have a unique car like a mazda RX8 in Pakistan - that too a dead case with missing engine etc then taking on it as a project is a very bad idea if your toolbox is a debit/credit card or cash only.

Such cars require more than 50% of the work to be done by the owner themselves. Read the thread tagged below - this fellow bought a simpleton honda accord with a swapped honda accord engine and had even more to sort out.

Yup I read that. What a nightmare.... I wish nice old carburettor engines were available. So simple but sadly no longer made and for good reason too. There is no way a carburetted engine can perform like a ECU controlled engine. Specially with tighter emission standards. Still, doing a swap correctly is a nightmare. It is unfair to expect our local electricians to do a professional job when the guy probably has never seen or even knows how to read a wiring diagram. He does guess work. Chances of getting it right are pretty slim. Better chance of getting a bullet in the head playing Russian Roulette :o

for e.g there was a possibilty i had to go with a swap in my merc. w115
the plan i had in my mind was importing a complete lexus ls 400 and altering in gear box,transmission , hissee and so on.

why ls400. ?
400? for the + 40000rs shipment and taxes (saeed gode wala pindi)
1lakh for a mean 1uz v8 seems fair too me + transmission + gear + wiring + Radiator + switches and so one + brakes ......................list goes on

for rx8 i would be looking towards 3sge Beams (rear wheel available ) or the mighty 1UZ again but will have to do some home work

It's been done and wrecked once already. I'm not a fan of custom oil pans on 1UZs either... none of them offer a mounting surface for the bell housing like the original unit. That's takes away a bunch of rigidity.

dair aye drust ayay... he realizsed the roi will not be achieved... that was a scairy conditioned rx8... 100 agreed if you can do this stunt dont get into it. If i was like Xulfi or even had his support i would still think twice. @ poster brother if you are reading this then please do not get discouraged... its just that the ending does not seem to sweet

If I think the job is difficult and there is some doubt about finishing, I complete the job to my satisfaction and then post afterwards. in this manner there is no humiliation about leaving a project incomplete on the public domain. For example I am trying something different on my project and have run into trouble over the parts I imported. Until the mix-up is sorted out and I can complete the job, I will not post.

I applaud and commend every Pakwheelers effort , time , sweat and endurance put in. No humiliation what so ever since its your endevour , apologies if you feel offended in any way. It just not my piece of cake anymore. I was seconding Xulfis view on the rx8 how ever if you feel it can be pulled off with all the pain and sweat worth it then best of luck.

you have one side nicely covered according to what you post, but still the project is only good if you know it from soup to nuts and can actually see the goal of it - not imagining it - which is what most people tend to go astray on.

e.g. - I would love to have a nitro fuelled 440 hemi in a car like an FD RX7, is it possible - YES if my aim is to just look at it because it wont be pretty to drive
