Panoramic Glass Roof - Retrofitting

Dear Friends,

I intend to set up a body shop here in Lahore where we shall be offering different types of retrofitting.

We intend to start with ?Panoramic Roof? retrofitting, i.e. converting standard fixed metal roof cars with fixed glass roof.

I want to ask you a question.

Would you be interested to get ?Panoramic Roof? installed in your car?

See the attached pictures.

The cost of this conversion is US$ 2000 ~ 2200.
Workmanship will be as per international standards.
This is not a Chinese product.
It will not break even if someone sits on the glass roof.

I will appreciate to receive your valuable feed back.

You like this idea, keeping in view the cost of conversion?

its an EXCELLENT idea and am sure you will find people taking a lot of interest but I feel that the cost may well be an issue for the Pakistani market ; not so much for someone with a new car ( who may not want to go thru the process anyway!) but for owners of older vehicles particularly the classic car market.

Good luck with your enterprise. If possible, do post details of location etc.

Besides cost, our people are too sceptical about after market craftsmanship. Besides, Pakistan is not really a country to have such roofs. I have noticed the surge in moonroofs over the past decade but have barely ever seen any roof open.

The pictures you have posted do look quite enterprising though.

the cost is too high, it won't be practical for most pakistanis, and others will make the excuse k gari genian nahi rahay gi sigh

Great idea! Price is justifiable for the work you will put in! You will find that 90% of people will say the price is too much but then again that's the problem with our market.. Everyone wants the quality but are not willing to pay for it!
People need to realize that quality workmanship and materials cost! With the $ @ 104 rs yes this will be costly..
But most definitely worth it as it's a unique upgrade!
I would love to be a reseller for you in Karachi!

How would you manage a neat clean oem looking roof lining for uncommon cars, ie those other than the run of the mill Corollas and Civics etc?

nice I hope this does not alter the energy dissipation of the passenger cell. glass roof cars have a different body shell that has HD bracing between the front and rear pair of pillars.

Please no offense but anyone paying for this amount on new. Why he will not pay that towards a model with an optional feature from manufacturer.

As the panoramic roof is not slide or tilt., i think its not practical in summer at all in Pakistan. Also people will fear if someone breaks it. Also I don't know if insurance will cover this glass incase someone has full insurance. As its after market. Original moon roofs are covered. Also will toyota , honda warranty will be void after this update?

You must talk to insurance companies so that it can be covered in case if breakage.. You need to make it attractive one way or another.

I wont recommend you this business. 2 reaaons. Cost is too high where people buy car keeping in mind resale.
Secondly 10 months are hot in Pakistan.

Business like a good quality workshop where you can service hondas and corollas with some disticrive services like booth painting and in house accessories shop is more likely to be profit oriented than the one you are planning.

Anyways best of luck and look forward to hear inputs of senior and experienced members...

i am +ve the glass is a solar control toughened glass... if not there are always options of installing film for heat and safety..

As far as theft is concerned, statically a thief always looks for the path of least resistance... hence they break the quarter glass or unlock the doors so as not to attract too much attention or make too much noise... in the case of a panoramic roof i do not think that will be the preferred point of entry... yes in the case of riots this may be a problem... but as mentioned before there are films available to take care of that aspect..
