I am not sure about the piston size exactly but yes it was bored as per the mechanic who did the rebuild. He said he rebored, added new pistons and rings and did some work on the valves.

Yes, i've told irshad to change whatever he feels needs to be changed to fix these issues.

The problem is, i work 9-5 5 days a week so i don't usually get time to stay with the mechanic. I have to trust them with what they are doing. The only technical details i know about are from reading the threads here.

So fuel pump was replaced today, injectors were cleaned, Radiator was serviced and Thermostat was changed. Total cost including labor was 11k. The car has become alot better, not as good as it originally was but it doesn't vibrate as much and doesn't feel choked anymore. Also one of the foundation is weak and Catalytic is a bit choke as per Irshad. We will complete both of these tasks on friday, hopefully the car becomes even better. Will keep everyone posted.

compression readings seems fine. fuel pump turned out messy.
please do observe the fuel consumption. what about engine heating issue, was that thermostat valve the culprit.

When i got to irshad this morning, the car was hot as hell. Irshad noticed it and asked me if i had every gotten the radiator cleaned, i said yes but not in front of me (Got it done by my own mechanic). Irshad still got it cleaned and told me that it was never cleaned as stated earlier. He also replaced the thermostat because of doubts over it. Earlier the car was giving me 10.5km/l with ac in city, Lets see if it improves.

The two issues that are still there are that the car still vibrates slightly on idle and ac, which might be because of one weak foundation. The other issue is that, while climbing any ramp, the car becomes sluggish for a second or two before responding. This might be caused by choked cat as per Irshad. He said if both of these dont work, than we might have to look at the throttle.

please note that 1KR-FE is notorious for engine oil consumption. if you lose upto 800 ml (0.8 ltr) per 5000 kms that is very normal. Oil grade shall be 5w-30 or if you are up north in cold climatic location 0W-20 shall be used. A hiccup over ramp i believe Cat Con may also need cleaning

Ok now let's come toward recovering from this problem.
Drain the current fluid immediately and find Caltex Delo Goldb15W 40 engine oil and pour it in and drive the vehicle calmly and agressively for next ,3600 kms and let's see the results.

Remember after first rebuild don't use any synthic blend oil.

what is possible logic for that. After rebuild 1st oil change is at 800 miles run with filter change. Oil grade logic i need some help to understand that.

The typical rebuild need some tough time to seat up properly like piston rings needs to be seated properly after rebuild and we have a short time Doing it plus new crank shaft bearings needs some serious time additives to polish off. Synthitic blends or synthetic slows down this detoriation and ends in oil losses issues in engines using tight clearences like 1 Kr due to this fact and on having on hand experience by rebuilding these engines a mineral oil does it's best to help in seating up those parts and the first oil change after rebuild should be prolonged to minimum of 3600 kms interval not earlier as 1000 kms or so.
This is the logic behind not using the synthic blend in a newly built engine.

it says on their site that its diesel engine oil? anyways, I'll trust you with this and replace 5w20 with this for the next 3000km. Btw the car has already done 1400km, initial 1000km with 5w20 and next 400km after another oil change! Will it be ok to move to 15w40 now?

ok so i just got the oil replaced with the said Catlex gold 15w40 diesel oil (3 Litre) oil. My mechanic was cursing me that I'm mad for putting diesel oil in a gasoline car and that if the engine seizes, i am the one who's going to be responsible

Tell the mechanic he has already not offered any warranty on rebuild because if he has offered any warranty he would have done something when the engine consumed the oil in last trip.

Don't worry and keep driving it with heavy and light foot and keep checking the oil levels. And after 300 kms perform the smoke test by properly warming up the engine and removing the oxygen sensor and race up the engine UpTo 4000 rpm and see if any smoke comes out of the exhaust.

I haven't noticed any oil consumption since the rebuild since it has only been driven 1400km with 2 oil changes. I will still get it checked with the new mineral oil after 300km. Today Irshad will be cleaning the CAT, fixing the main engine foundation and checking if theres an issue with the throttle.
