Bhai I am personally using a Prado KZJ 95 with 4 speed ECT, Corolla GLI 4 speed ECT and this Alto AGS and am regularly switching between these + a manual 120Y. Alhamdulilah not facing any serious issues in bearing the AGS.

I haven't seen any difference in mileage. My JDM Alto with CVT gives lesser mileage than VXL but again my JDM Alto is 5-6 years old and has clocked 65k km.
When i bought it new it was 5200km driven and mileage i used to get was 23-25
Now mileage i get is 21-22
VXL gives me mileage 23-24

So i would call that negligible difference in mileage in both cars.

Now coming to the feel and driving experience of both CVT is a please while AGS feels like an extremely inexperienced driver is sitting inside the engine bay and ghenta lga k clutch dba k gear change kar rha hai.
I would seriously compare that to a khota gaari jis mein the donkey gets tired and you hit him tou aik dam se gear change k sath jhatka and speed pakar li next gear mein.

Does one get used to it ?
Yes definitely you get used to it and feels like normal because you learn the pedal feel k kitni speed pe kitna pedal ko chorna hai tou foran gear change ho gaye ga tou uske baad normal hi lagta hai . You dont feel k buri transmission hai

My JDM went out of town for a week and i got used to AGS until it came back and now i have both some time driving one and some time the other and it feels like hell driving the AGS.
If you dont have a second car thats even an simple auto then theak hai you wont feel anything

But if you have a second car that has a auto trans or CVT then uske sath AGS chalana bas se bahar hai

i second you. it is exactly like this. I almost bought the cvt jdm one after test driving both but then I got opposition from family over the shape and size and we sometimes hit the highway as well so they were of the view that it will not survive on motorway or highway with luggage and passengers. My father is of the view that 660 is meant for urban commute only. so we settled for a vitz but after a lot of search and khwari as u know that tampering and fraud is too much but Alhumdolellah found an auction sheet verified car.

Your father is absolutely right, these 660 cc dinkies are intended for urban conditions (below 80 kph) either they be local or Japanese. Due to the same reason I doubt that I will be taking this car on intercity commute, but Karachi is a big city and I can manage a 100 km trip in the city when there is work need.

I seriously doubt your statement here. Both PKDM and JDM cars have exactly the same engines with same compression ratio. Probably your cousin is afraid on running car on normal fuel or may be he had a one time bad experience from a particular fuel station.

We had one major problem as mentioned earlier in this thread (throttle body) and a few small problems which were resolved easily, that's why we don't take any risk now with the JDM.

Further I think there is some setting in the Pakistan version as the same engine is very noisy as compared to the JDM one.

Probably the loudness of the engine is due to bad insulation from Pak Suzuki. I highly doubt PKDM Alto engines are tweaked from the factory.

BTW I have just purchased Cultus VXL AGS from Suzuki Mecca Motors which has now been converted to Kia Motors, still waiting for the lockdown to end so I can recieve my car and get it registered. I need to ask is there's a special way of driving AGS? Mostly this car will be driven by Parents specially my Mother.

Nopes, there is difference in engine noise. The difference is like when we used to leave the tappet setting loose in older cars there used to be a specific tik-tik-tik noise and it would vanish when the mechanic would open the tappet cover and do the adjustment.

Thanks. This doesn't feel annoying at all. Its almost same as prosmatec or any other conventional A/T leave or deaccelarte the pedal for a quick smooth shift. Only thing in AGS is to make sure you lift your foot off from the accelerator during hard pulls. On the other hand I believe during normal city cruising we don't have to worry about this technique.

Oh I see. May be Pak Suzuki is using thinner oil over here. Have you checked the engine oil specification of Alto internationally and over here?

It looks like this from the video, but in real life there are a few problems. One example was discussed in the thread i.e. problems in climbing steep and long ramps (common in Malls and apartments with underground parking). Similarly I face issue while parallel parking the car, specially when the rear car is very near and there is even a small bump on the floor. In normal auto cars, when the car is in D or R, it tends to slowly move towards front or reverse respectively when the brakes are not applied. This slow push helps while making maneuvers while parking in tight spots, but in case of AGS, the gear doesn't give this push (atleast in reverse) so if I am only 5-6 inches from the rear car I won't take the risk of accelerating my vehicle in R.

The international oil grade used in the Naturally Aspirated R06A is 0W-20 whereas Pak Suzuki recommends and uses 10W-40 in the PKDM version.

Yup, but while doing the same with my Wagon R which was manual I didn't face this kind of situation as you have more control due to the clutch.

If you use 0w20 in your new alto you will achieve upto 23km/l.

I am probably the first buyer of PKDM Alto in Pakwheels community, the car has given me great local driving avg with AC upto 22km/l with AC and without AC in winters upto 23.50 km/l.

This happens when you use the 0w20 oil, bear in mind suzuki being cheap pour in 10w40 in brand new alto from assembly line, so as soon as you get the car change the engine oil.

I live in urban islamabad where there are signals every 150-200m and theres not much space to cruise around yet this tiny daddu manages 20+ km/l avg even when floored.

I manually calculate everytime i get the car refueled and always buy full tank. Similarly, reset the trip meter on every full tank fuel top up.

Can anyone guide or shed some light what is so special about this 0w20 oil, have heard alot about it from people, some even get 14 KMPL average with it from a Grande even!, I've been using 5w30 or 10w40 which has been good but i want to try this 0w20 in Altis 1.6 FL.

Stick to the recommended grade, which is 5w30 for corolla I believe
Recommended grades always perform best in any car
In suzuki lineup, For alto wagonr celerio and ciaz, 0w20 is recommended
And for swift, 0w16 and ertiga or vitara 5w30
And our awam be like "bari garmi h 10w40 daal do, car 50k chal gai h abb 20w50 dal do"
