Although, The service guy had told me if there is a belt issue, it will be replaced under warranty. But I'm not taking their word for it. I don't even know if they will welcome a warranty claim if I show them that the belt has deteriorated or has gone thick after checking with the tool which @alitayyab referenced. The belt issue is making me paranoid and owners of 2008 better be prepared. Either someone first will start to have this issue in future, shall we see what comes of it or what feedback LMC gives or the owners do something about it.

No one ever got back to me from Lucky. I wrote to them twice. I got a nice we'll get back to you message and then complete silence.

As for the belt, long rides, warmer weather, quicker service intervals (6 mo vs. 12 mo for most of the world for 2008) will likely save those who religiously follow the service schedule and ride their cars for longer duration.

Short trips mixes fuel with oil which is left unburnt and eats away the belt quicker (as far as i've read).

I would suggest ONLY TO USE COMPANY PROVIDED OIL & FILTER and FOLLOW THEIR SCHEDULES AND ADVICE. Any deviation and they will throw owners under the bus or in this case a busted 2008.

There were rumours of belt to chain change for newer models but their is nothing concrete from what I have read. Likely be upgraded when euro 7 regulations are enforced.

The official value afaik is 80000km when the belt should be changed. But the lowest reported on YouTube is iirc 60000 for failed, degraded belts
These are mostly from European countries. Cold weather with longer official service intervals may have a role in such premature failures

Hmm. There are several 2008s that have done over 50000-60000 KMs by now but not a single case has been appeared for the timing belt issue. Let's see until 80k and 100k

Initial periods are pretty asymptomatic i.e. one will not notice anything. It is only when it starts blocking oil flow resulting in pressure problems that it becomes manifest.

I strongly suggest everyone with a 2008 to get the tool, watch some videos and keep checking the belt and not rely on service/ maintenance personnel. In my time with the car, the belt was NEVER checked.

SO my car has already updated version or i can install which software is showing

Download. If its newer the HU will update, otherwise it will tell you that you have the same/ newer version.

MAKESURE you used your VIN and not VIN from another region to get the update.

Is it safe to update the software ? Any major changing after update the software ?

When I had the car, i updated twice. No new features, no difference that i could tell. Updated cuz maybe there were changes "behind the scene" like improved system functions etc. Also the process has a failsafe. If the upgrade fails, it is possible to recover by following the procedure laid down.

I am planning to visit up-country till Islamaabd from Karachi this Jul in my Peogeut 2008 . I am only the driver and this is my first own car road trip. Please guide me what are the things that needs to be taken care . I will not go directly, may be a stay in Sukkar or Multan , depending upon how much I can stretch my self.

Need your advices for Car and the trip.

No need to worry about anything. Just get the basics right. Check your coolant level since its hot, try to use high quality fuel only.

You can keep your car last maintenance and schedule in mind. If maintenance including oil change etc due in the next 2000 km, then get it done before you leave.
If not due, then a general check up for coolant level, engine oil level, other fluids like brake etc should be ok.
Also check the AC and the cabin filter as you will need this during the trip.
Tires as well since they are very important for a long trip like this. Pressures and general condition should be good. Keep an inflator with you if possible.
Top up from Karachi and then fuel up at Gambat or Sukkur from Shell or PSO. They are good pumps.
Stop after Sukkur preferably. Multan is doable within daylight in 10-11 hours if you leave early (6ish). But you know your limits yourself so leave well rested. If you are not an early riser, then best to leave when you have woken up fresh.

I have the 2022 allure variant which has done 36km. Before purchasing this (second hand), I read up about the great fuel economy figures of 13 or 14 plus km/lt. However, my allure hasn't given me over 9km/lt and on bad days its 8km/lt. I drive on a light foot and notice that real time average stays good but the overall economy is rubbish. I have noticed that the economy on idle falls drastically. Will appreciate advice on this.

A few points to note: i live in Karachi and usually have short drives. The speed ranges between 30 to 55km per hour due to traffic stops and pot holes( makes the drive less enjoyable). I wonder if the fuel economy figures as claimed by people are valid only for Islamabad and lahore etc, where road conditions are better.

People often vastly exaggerate their fuel economy figures.

They will also often incorrectly calculate them. Eg they drive on a straight patch without much traffic for 30-40km and then claim it gives amazing fuel average like 14km/L etc. which is true for only a small sample size and good road condition.

Over a large sample and stop n go typical city traffic, I really doubt it will go above 10km/L.

Hopefully other owners who have used it in REAL city conditions and over at least a full tank can give their input.
