Prado, Surf or Vigo

Greetings all. First post on the forum.

Here's the scenario. I have 24 lakhs, not a penny more. Been searching for a 4x4 for the about a month, live in Lahore, but have even visited Karachi for my new found love of 4x4s.

Found 3 SUVs that I have shotlisted.

1- Toyota Prado 2001 TX

Condition is 90%, exterior and interior. Will final at around 23.5 lakhs, unregistered.

2- Toyota Surf 2002 SSRX

Condition is 100%, exterior and interior. Will final at around 21.5 lakhs, unregistered.

3- Toyota Hilux Surf 2004 G trim

Condition is 80%. Need to replace brake light, add wooden interior panels. Unregistered. Will final around 19.5 lakhs.

This will be my only car, I have a family, a wife and a 3yr old son. Don't totally rule the Vigo out, as I can do a lot of addons with it and the spare money i will have left over.My concern is if my wife will look like a female guard driving it.

I am unbiased to all options.

What would you fellow go for?

In my opinion i think prado is a wise choice for u. As i also have the same model .

Thanks Bhutto. Let me ask you, all the Prados I have driven from 1996-2002 models, their dashboards rattle (kharakna). Is that something which is usually a bi-product of this chasis?

Also, my personal choice would be a 2003 Surf (new shape) with a 3.0 TD engine. But cannot find one.

Yea surf new shape can also be good option . One of my friend has it . But i personally will prefare prado . Rest its upto ur choice .

I would prefer the 2002 surf which u shortlisted as it is according to what u said 100% original and in excellent condition but is the 2002 surf the new shape one or the old one?

Dual Ac

More comfortable

Excellent pick

Gangsta look

Better interior

Surf:

not comfortable

Ugly interior

No dual AC

It is normally used by Agencies and gangsters. Family doesn't look good in it

Vigo:

A very less optioned suv

Not good Road grip

Again same reputation as surf has But it is Comfortable and fast

I do own a Prado and according to my experience, Prado wud be the best choice for you as its more of a family wagon, more comfortable, more space and the best 4x4 capability. So its an all in one package that you can't ignore. If you need space & comfort, better think of Prado!

There is one thing though, last week when I met @Storm in Dubai, I came to know that unlike Prado in UAE, the one in Pakistan are not much comfortable. I'm not sure how much difference is there but I believe it will still be better then Surf.

The Vigo on the other hand I think is glorified mule!

Ok, Gents.
Looks like the Vigo is out.

I am trying to find a newer shaper Surf, 2003.
Alikolsawala- the 2002 surf is the older shape. Not the new one. If it was, I would jump at it.

Guys, please do keep an eye out on, if you see a 2003 surf, please let me know. Decision time will be later in the coming week.
