As you know that Muzaffarabad was one of the main cities damaged by disastrous earthquake....and this old fort being in the belt suffered a lot as well...
Our guide was telling that this pillar was intact before earthquake..

Its orientation is Amazing.....
Surrounded from three sides by River Neelum and only one side exposed...For security reasons...And you see that its standing (almost) in the river for hundreds of years.....
This is a view of Neelum River from the stairs which leads towards the entrance of the fort...

Another better view....surrounded by the river....You can see Muzaffarabad city in the back ground....
Now Govt of AJK has built a protective wall around the fort to protect it from the river water....notice the lower right side.....you can see that wall....

This is main gate of the Fort.....It was a holiday when we reached Muzaffarabad and the fort was closed for viewing.....
I found the guard/gate keeper/guide and requested that we have come from "Pakistan".....so we cant go without seeing this piece of history....

he agreed....

So we are waiting for him to come and open the door of the fort...

Another view from slightly different angle.....
This Fort is on a mountain top...quite high from the surroundings......A part of Muzaffarabad city and beautiful encircling River Neelum.....
The location of this fort is very interesting......
River is having a turn at this point and fort is located at this turning point .......resulting in protection from three sides by River Neelum.....
very intelligent move indeed...
