Salam Pakwheelers. As the title says, this will be a progression thread on how I take my stock black LX470 and preform small upgrades to enhance the look and drive. Will be changing the exhaust System as well. Any Suggestions are most welcome. The car is going for a complete Blacked Out look.
Will be doing DIY as well.
Exhaust System Update coming soon.Bumpers and sides will be painted black.
Original:
Product used: PlastiDip- It is a spray based black rubber coating that protects paint underneath while giving off a matte black finish. This will not harm your paint and is as easy to remove as it is to put on.

Its Optional to mask as Plasti dip would peel right off your paint but masking helps save the work. Now i Plastidipped the wheels while on the truck. Its important to cover the brake assembly and calipers so they do not get coated too. I used Plastic Drop Cloth to cover the Brakes. Its important that the plastic does not touch the rims during dipping because when you take the plastic off the dip will peel off. First Coat. You do not need the rim to be all black. First Coat has to be light. Also tinted the Lights. Used VHT Night Shades. Tint in a can!Light Assemblies removed.Finished Look!
I got tired of the traditional key! So I got this Switchblade Type.
Well. Your car .. Your choice but tail lights.. Mostly people get tinted.. Not platidip..
I previously used to plastidip my alloys for winter..

I mentioned how to tail lights are not dipped, but actually tinted. I used VHT Nightshades.
Just how durable would the Plastidip finish be once it gets beaten up on the road?
Durability depend on how many coats you have. I put 4 coats each. I have done them on my Range Rover. Its been 8 monthe still going great.
4 coats should last you a while, I agree, other than stone chips or a little peeling from the edges. PlastiDip remains soft, if I remember it correctly.
I had a friend who did about 6 coats each and goes off roading with his truck. The dip looks good as new. The more coats, the more durability. Plasti Dip is User friendly, and most importantly, cheap.
I agree that PlastiDip is cheap and user friendly, what I do like is its easy reversibility.
Look what I got in the mail!
Exactly. Its not permanent. Whenever your tired, just peel it right off. No damage to the surface at all.
06 and later came with LED rear lights as stocks I think.
Wish plastic was easily available here to....Nice going bro looks much better now..loving the tail lightsSent from my HTC Rhyme S510b using PW Forums mobile app
Yes 2006 and up came with stock LEDs But their reverse lights are centered between the license Plate. I own a 2002 and these lights are specifically for the 2002 models. Its Plug and Play. The reverse and turn is built in, rather than the reverse being separate.
Thanks. And if PlastiDip was available in Pakistan, I am sure it would have been a great success.
Ordered Them in Smoke. Looks Awesome.
Trip to Bear Mountain.
