FWIW, for a FUN, weekend car, the jz swap is fine. The pros are parts availability and the nearly double power output at a reasonable cost.

However, if its a daily driver which has to be reliable too, a m50 swap would be the best option. M52s are a bit tricky and are prone to nikasil and warpage issues if overheated. Although the 2.8 with a M50 2.5 manifold is a 230+ bhp contender!

Keep in mind, German power ratings are usually on the conservative side and BMWs perform better than other manufacturers' similarly rated cars.

This is because most tuners do not pay attention to the gearing. Ever wonder how such a small 1-4 engine could carry such a sedan rather sharpishly. It was due to the gearing advantage.

is that really true?

i saw a brochure of a 335i some years ago, dont know what year model. it claimed that the engine produced 400NM of torque from as low as 1800rpm. I dont know how thats possible?

^^ the 335 would be the fattest I6 engine with added turbos they had which is legendary to pull the car like a train.

At one point he is saying he is searching for original engine howerver few pages earlier doc.tarzan is saying two bmw engines of 3-series n 5-series are available in his city so contact me. And there are several other thing which i noticed.

but the curve they showed in the brochure had a flat torque curve, hows that even possible? dont engines start loosing torque as rpm increases? and usually most engines dont have much torque close to the idle rpm unless it is a long block v-engine.....or am i wrong?

I was responding to the discussion regarding the 4 cylinder 8-valve M40 and M43 engines common in E36s here.

Compared to multi-valve Japanese engines of that era with large ports which results in higher peak horsepower, these engines have a powerband that is broader, although the peak output is lower.

first of all im really sorry for not replying,becoz im in lahore and car is in isb so i dont have pic of car right now.this weekend i upload lots of pictures dont worry.as i am i travelling thats why havnt read any comment or suggestions.this weekend i get free and give my best time to this thread.sorry for any inconvineance.as for engine concern im now concentrating on body work and interior.engine is no issue for me i can find and fit it any time so wait for that time.thanx to all members.keep contact and keep guideing us.we need ur advice and suggesions.

Its a straight 6 with turbochargers, a turbocharged engine can pull some serious torque across all the rev range specially if the entire engine is electronically controlled.

Airborn download the e36 bentley service manual. Its best diy manual and has the necessary specs for reference. free pdf off a torrent. Every e36 owner should have it in my opinion.

dear what diy means(do it your self)we are doing these work by our hands.complete car tuning from interior to exterior,from engine to all mechanical work.it takes time.so be patience and enjoy ur stay till tha final outcome.keep guiding us.thanx
