To be totally honest Because it was cheaper .. Manual 1j tranny would cost more than the engine/car

since these old cars swaps dont have traction controls/ABS etc
i think its a wise choice to have auto N/A. would make it more controllable

I wouldn't agree to that, I have seen mustangs and cobras with more power on a manual transmission with no traction n abs, I actually had a car putting out 300+ hp on a manual with drum brakes on the back and no traction and abs or system management at all...it all comes down to the integrity of the car and the driver itself I guess

Thats easier said than done, traffic and everything to do with it is much more unpredictable in pakistan than in melbourne. A more "exciting" car just increases the chances. Note that i said CHANCES, no matter how much of a veteran the driver, or how balls-y he may be, roads here always provide us with the chance that something bad may go down, may that chance be slight or huge. Just have to be careful

U've solved the mystery urself, since the traffic is so bad in Pakistan, u will either be driving real slow at almost idle or u'd avoid taking the car out on a crowded road...anyways my point was about traction control and abs...they don't do much Unless someone is stupid to do 360 degree turns when they don't have traction lolz(I disabled my traction control on my car) all good

cheap engine is costly and fatal.

one of guys i know here, already did 2jzgte swap and was wise enough to trade the engine for 1jz .(non turbo - i went to see the car and explained the pros and cons.
