Pakistan assembled SAGA will use exact same engine as in Malaysian SAGA, the 1332cc but with lower displacement of 1299cc. Again not sure if hardware itself is reduced to 1299 actually or just reported as 1299cc only. Lower than 1300 brings lesser taxes.
Anyways, All versions of SAGA in Pakistan will come with 1299cc inline 4 cylinder engine with 91HP and 120NM of torque. The transmission is 5 speed manual or 4 speed automatic. Hydraulic power steering is standard. McPherson front and torsion beam is on the rear. Front Disc and Drum on rear wheels.
Standard Manual and Standard Automatic have 185/60/ 14" steel wheels with covers , ACE comes with 185/60/ 15" Alloys.
R3 have cosmetic differences , more of all Show & NO go. Some bodykits, yellow stickers inside and out and that's all. R3 Auto might also have leatherette seating and leather wrapped steering wheel, needs confirmation.
The R3 might be a CBU / imported [ 100 can be imported also on lower Duty structure as per Auto policy, and that is why only 100 units for sale ] and reason being 1332cc as the price slide reflects, which is basically the same engine as in Malaysian SAGA lineup . It might have very little / minor change in HP [possibly 93] comparing rest of Pakiatani SAGA varaints [91HP].

2 frontal airbags come standard on all versions as well as ABS, EBD with Brake assist. Hill Hold Assist will be on the ACE only. Seat belts for all passengers while the availability of ISOFIX points for a child seat.
Rear parking sensors will be standard on all versions , ACE might get front parking sensors as well. Immobilizer and the anti-theft alarm will be standard.
Unfortunately, the Stability control and Traction control system will only appear on the ACE. Reverse camera is also only on the ACE version.

Proton has to share the fineprints on the 150K, 5 year warranty language. I have read somewhere ( need confirmation) that 5 year 150K is for certain items like power window motors, window channels only while the Engine, Transmission, other mechanical components, electrical is 3 Year / 100K warranty whichever comes first.
Proton offer 3 Year/ 100K warranty on their products for electrical, mechanical, engine, transmission in Malaysia and seems that might be same in Pakistan.

General Booking Starts Tomorrow, April 5th. 4 dealerships all across country. 2 in Karachi, 1 in Lahore and 1 in Islamabad. NOT sure what rest of the countryman will do and this will create confusion for interested buyers in other regions.
It would have been very appropriate that Proton have made any clarification on this matter. I mean launching a product with limited access is pathetic approach especially when promoting Proton with statements like "NATIONWIDE 3S NETWORK ", which is totally misleading or for Proton NATIONWIDE means just 3 cities / 4 dealerships.
I am sure that more dealerships are underway , like some FAW dealerships are converting but how people will interact with a vehicle , test drive and how they can book a vehicle in other cities without Proton at this time? AlHaj have to quickly develop other cities ASAP so, customers across the country have equal opportunity.
It also seems like everything is CKD/Local assembled as nothing was clarified at launch event. Delivery timeline is not known. I personally don't expect anything before July / August of 2021 or maybe even later. It would have been better if details on delivery have been shared.
For budget car buyer and keeping in mind the current pricing trend in our market , SAGA will be good addition . The exterior and interior styling is subjective and to some it might not appeal that much for being too bland and old school. It will for sure add another option to choose from under 2.5 Million, yes Alsvin is also there.
The price of SAGA might lure customers away from Picanto and Cultus and 2 generation old Swift and the main reason would be "DIGGI WALI GARI" . Not sure if SAGA can hurt the Alsvin and its early to say . It all depends how well Proton and Al-Haj take this opportunity, timely delivery and making sure that premium mafia donβt come into action which is unfortunately typical in our markets and we have seen it always active.
The sales and marketing strategy , after sale service, support, customer satisfaction and friendly and welcoming dealer network will only guide and help Proton to succeed. Proton in Pakistan is a joint venture with Al-Haj , the same group who was dealing FAW. Many people are very skeptical after their FAW operation/ after sales/ warranty , customers were not very happy most of time with their support. I hope such things does not happen in case of Proton.
Let's see if SAGA's π¦uccess & πchievement comes with any πreatness and πbility of Proton.
