Just talking about the dash. You should go see it in person. The proportions to me, are somewhat off. It reminds me of some car... But I just can't place it.

Good step BUT exact same claims and public notices are also made by Honda, Toyota and Suzuki. Even in the recent Interview by CEO of Indus..but the things are really different on ground.

Even Hyundai made an offical statement after the Tucson reveal and lol.. its sold on 1.1 Million premium even today.

Today I ordered Proton x70 FWD Premium locally assembled unit from Ittehad Proton Motors Islamabad. Delivery time is Oct 21. Will have to wait a lot to get this car....
Delivery of AWD / FWD Imported variant is till Apr 21...
Proton X70 is a well built, spacious SUV with good ground clearance & features.. Hopefully will be well received in Pakistani market...

I think you've made the best choice available if X70 CBUs are sold out. But Oct 2021 is too long a wait. If they plan to start assembling at end of Q2 2021, it means they've already booked 3+ months worth of orders?

X70 was already planned for October for CKD.

Plant completion by June. Plant Calibration by July and then test units in August is planned. Intial delivery is already planned for Mid September.

Delivery time is a hell lot. Waiting for a new thing becomes even more difficult as one would like to get his hands on his new machine as soon as possible.

yes even the Proton/FAW dealership friends told me the same they will plan once their Proton Plant is ready by next year, X50 will probably come by end of 2021 or 2022.

X50 looks far better than the X70. Even the interior looks premium....

A few things about X50:

Compared to X70, it looks better inside and out because it's newer and is also said to be sportier.

In terms of size, it is (negligibly) smaller than Honda HR-V and Toyota CHR in length and wheelbase and is comparable to Kia Seltos.

But, it is only about 15% cheaper than equivalent X70 with 1.8T engine in Malaysia. Difference between 1.5T X70 should be even smaller so in Pakistan one could expect it to hover around the 4.0mn range.

I've just come to realise: does proton think they're a premium brand? Because it's actually a re-branded (geely) Chinese. And I see people (on different forums) criticising dfsk and mg just for being a Chinese brand, so why give proton any favour.
Why do they get to price their ckd 1.5l engine (that obviously falls at a lower tax bracket) at the same level to hyundai and kia 2.0l engine. When, even in Malaysia, the sportage and tucson are slightly expensive compared to this.
Are we actually supporting them to charge huge profits on their new entrant.

How much does those goodies cost them?
Isn't the Malaysian versions, with all the goodies, compared to korean competitors, still cheaper? As far as i know, even the loaded version retails for less than tucson or sportage.
Plus if some sensors and features are the measuring gauge, then why bash glory so much. I went to check it, and in a closed showroom, the fit - finish and materials were pretty much similar to any Korean, for that matter.
Why can't we protest, online at least, and force them to lower the price; wouldn't it be our own benefit?
