The 1.5 engine is not as bad as you might think, it has been thoroughly tested by Proton engineers on Pakistani roads for almost a year. As far as treating Pakistanis differently is concerned, Geely Azkarra (which is the Philippines version of Boyue pro) also has this 1.5T and in fact, Boyue Pro in China as well comes with the same 1.5turbo, mainly because it's a newer engine with comparable performance to the 1.8t.

Another advantage of this was the price which is markedly lower than other crossovers in our market.

Regarding vibrations, this video shows how refined the engine is, the water bottle barely even moves when the engine is running or even revved.

Remember, this is an X50, the added heft of X70 should dampen the vibrations even more.

Wasiq bhai, geely azkarra has a small hybrid system in it as well. And thats my point, its a very well thought out engine, for the purpose of being used with the electric part for start up and initial movement. Geely azkarra may as well be the next x70 as per rumors. So the evolution is well planned 1.8 --> moving towards 1.5 3 cylinder with a hybrid.

Anyhow, you people have dampened some of my disappointment, may as well go to book it by year end. Thank you all.

Plus 1. Ask for test drive as many times you want. If you are a genuine customer you have every right to be 100% satisfied before giving them your money

Your concern is valid, the engine used in xc40 with hybrid is a different product in the same class which produces diff performance numbers. If you see forums of xc40 with the gas only engine , people have not complained of vibrations etc.

There is a chance that Malaysian x70 might also be fitted with the 1.5 , they were planning to do it but was put in hiatus as people might think it's a down grade.

This engine is better than the 1.8.

It is probably the only Chinese origin cuv that one may call good.

Good news is, price will remain unchanged for persons who booked CBU X70s whose deliveries are expected to start end of this month. In other words, Al-Haj is compensating its customers due to late deliveries.

"The car manufacturer further said that Rs5,390,000 was a special introductory and subsidized price for our initial customers. “Since that time, freight costs have increased multiple times as well as Pakistani rupee has devalued against USD by nearly 6%,” the company said. Despite this rise in cost, Al-Haj has decided not to increase the retail price of imported X70. “The company took the step to accommodate the delays in deliveries of CBU X70."

This shows proton is serious about making a foothold in the market and isn't just looking to make a few quick bucks.
Unlike Haval, which has increased prices twice in a span of 3-4 months. Customers who booked the Jolion at 55 lac are being made to pay 60 lac while those who booked at 57 might have to pay even more when 2nd batch of CBUs arrives.

@krafiq yes i drove around 50km i liked it a lot as i am transitioning from 2006 altis to x70 so there is a huge difference...
I test drove glory 580 at packages
That suv was fine as well but drive of x70 was more refined throttle delay in x70 was only marginal and afterwords power delivery was consistent throughout rpm range.
I liked interior styling of x70 as well as exterior styling.
Ground clearance was excellent and drive was smooth on bumpy roads of south punjab 🤣
Even as a passenger you enjoy a lot....
Only thing i disliked in interior was arm holders/stylish guards around center console but that is subjective thing

As for fuel consumption 8.9L/100 km since last reset 364 km ago in mix city/suburban driving of local roads(no motorway).
TPMS gave a problem which was rectified by multan dealership(probably roadside hawa wala mismanaging it).

Good that Al Haj hasn't increased prices, but we shouldn't be commending them for doing the bare minimum. The fact is these CBUs were supposed to be delivered by March, and they would have had no exchange rate or freight cost issues had they delivered on time. Instead, Al Haj was opening new dealerships in Feb/March which managed to deliver CBUs to friends and family by June, while people who had booked at old dealerships in December are still waiting even now. So they have absolutely no excuse to increase prices for people who have been waiting for a CBU for 9 months. Not even completing 400 CBUs delivery within 9 months does not show seriousness. The only thing that can prove their seriousness is if we see a CKD within 2021 with similar build quality. Many people booked CKDs in Dec/Jan (including me), at that time it was claimed that production is starting in June 2021. At this point it's looking like we will be waiting at least 18 months for a delivery.

Proton have chosen worst possible partner in Pakistan....
Even regal/sazgar have been better than Al-Haj...
Regal have had issues in start but now they are delivering vehicles in 4 months time.
Sazgar have started ckd production before announcing/launching a product....
